Greetings from Turks and Caicos!

We're on the end of the second to last day of our Make-A-Wish trip to Turks and Caicos. I'm looking through the pictures we've taken so far and thought it would be nice to post one here to let everyone know I'm still alive. We're really enjoying our time here; I think if our daily routine consisted of floating around in the ocean for 2+ hours, we'd all have at least a few more years in us.

As always, for anyone who cares to look, there's an ugliness to be seen underneath all of this beauty. There's a terrible history of colonial violence, with immigration laws supposedly in place to "protect" native islanders; rather than serving to protect, these laws primarily ensure the natives (and their descendants) continue comprising a small, easily-oppressed working class. Predictable corruption in the political representation of these people follows. Nonetheless, we are enjoying a beautiful beach vacation on the backs of all these delightful people! (I'm giving the service people 100-200% tips whenever I can afford it, and doing what I can to stoke the fires of hatred toward their oppressors whenever possible)

Really though, we're spending most of our days on the most beautiful beach I could've imagined, and Alaura is loving every second of it out there. So aside from playing a small/indirect part in further enriching more scum of the earth (as we're all forced to do just to stay alive in America anyway), I have no complaints! I'm really happy that Alaura is loving it so much. That was of course the whole point of this trip, and there was a lot that could've gone wrong with her new vision limitations and potential sensory problems. I think the beach is genuinely her new favorite thing of all time now. Hopefully our self-funded beach vacations in the future aren't too disappointing by contrast, because I can't afford this shit on the regular myself, so we'll be going to the relatively toxic and murky beaches of Florida instead. Maybe a bit of Georgia.

I hope to finally be done with my contract work very shortly after we get back, but we'll see how the usual day-1-patch nonsense shakes out. With any luck, I'll be able to come back and put a bit of full-time effort into my emulation/enhancement projects again sometime within the month. Until next time, my friends.
