Lewd Launcher - A game launcher for Patreon games
Hey everyone,
A few weeks ago, Alex from DreamBigGames released a game launcher that lets you download, install, and update adult games on Patreon (for example) without the usual hassle of finding the correct post, a working download link, extracting it to the right folder, etc.
What it does in a nutshell:
One-click install and play — no extracting zips, no hunting for .exe files
Smart updates — only downloads what actually changed, not the whole game again
Patreon and Subscribe Start login — syncs your tier automatically, so you see the games you have access to
Bug reporting — if something breaks, you can report it straight from the launcher with logs attached
News feed — patch notes and announcements show up inside the app
Version rollback — if an update messes something up, you can go back to the previous version
Offline mode — games you already downloaded keep working even if you're offline or your sub lapses
Works on PC and Android (separate downloads)

I talked to Alex a little to find out if it was an option for me to be on there and the main points that sold it to me were the smart updates and the Android support.
Smart updates are simple: you only download changed/new files without the need to provide extra packages/download links for an "Update only".
Also, if there are bug fixes in the scripts, etc., this is way easier to handle than sending around zip files.
The launcher basically works like Steam.
The second point for me was the Android support. Android APK has a 2GB limit, which is why I didn't want to bother with Android before finishing the game. Yes, compression and all, I know, but I never wanted to provide an Android version and then have to drop it because I can't fit the full game within 2GB, even with everything compressed.
Lewd Launcher bypasses that 2GB limit.
Yes, that means I'll finally bother with an official Android version earlier than full release.
Maybe when Chapter 8 is fully done.
I want to add one more important thing:
I won't be changing my existing ways to distribute the game in any way. I'll still do the uploads to GDRIVE and mirrors, etc.
This is just an optional way for those who might like it better.

Pretty cool stuff
Not for me, that's certain. Even if I had download limitations. It's still a strange entity/company... asking for sensitive information, and a lot of it. A firm "no thank you"!
fair. As mentioned before, it's a standard message from Patreon because the API is technically able to provide that information. The app itself doesn't use that information. A "no thank you" is a valid answer to it, though. :-)

I just checked with Alex. The message is the same for all because the API is able to provide that data. The launcher collects: Account user name, pledged tiers and supported Devs It's your decision to trust it or not, of course, and I fully understand if you don't. It's the internet after all. ;-) If you don't want to use it, that's fine and nothing will change for you.
I already do not like regular game launchers of gaming publishers (or the one from Nexus mods for that matter); so it's going to be a pass for me.

doesn't work. seeks authorization from patreon, but never seems to get a reply.
it should bring up the browser with Patreon and ask for confirmation. It uses the Patreon-API to connect to your Patreon-Account (no password required or stored)
