Hammer... errr... poll time - Game updates with one-time payments
With the update coming soon(™) I've been thinking about selling the post with the update links as a one-time payment.
Quite a few people sub for 1 month when an update drops and then unsub.
Which I'm totally fine with, thank you for your support!
For a while now, Patreon has offered the option to sell posts for a one-time payment.
That means you can buy access to a specific post without subscribing.
It would make the process easier for those who sub for 1 month to get the update.
I don't really lose anything except for the money I miss out on when people forget to cancel their sub. That would feel bad anyway because I don't want to "exploit" a mistake someone makes.
I prefer to earn support the honest way.
The prices for those posts will be exactly the same as the 1-month sub, of course.
And since I'm totally good at making decisions like that and not having a lot of polls anyway... hammer time.
What do you guys think?

I bought the game on Steam and can't support it anywhere else with a purchase. Thanks to Visa and MasterCard. If the game comes out on GOG, I'll be happy to buy it again.❤️
Thank you for your support :-) GOG is something I'm thinking about (and Moonlight from Glowing Stones is annoying me that I should go there...). Probably not very soon, though. Lots of hoops to jump through and I'm not sure where I should find the time for that.
Yes
i have been subbed for months so if you do that hmm...i dont know now. i wish there was a way you could divide it so long term subs are ok and people 2 months and under have to buy or something. idk how much youll charge but the one time fee if it isnbt something like 10 dollars or more would be worth it for both partys?
also depends how big the update is
The last update I upgraded my subscription just to be able to access the post and I was ready to do that again. Do as you think it's better! I'll support by subscribing, paying for individual posts or buying DLC´s. Whatever!
I think this is a excellent thing to do. I'm already supporting book authors like this where you pay for each new book when it's ready as well as an AVN author who charges for each new release. All in all I think this a win/win for both sides, especially if you do it in addition to monthly support - have some steady income from those who want to support your ongoing development or play a bigger role in the story and then a boost once you finish a reasonable step which hopefully keeps you motivated ;-)
Making it easier to do what we hope folks will do is almost always a win. Also, applauding your ethics around temporary subscribers.
Use the option if it is there, I don't think it cost you much to enable it and if it can bring you some extra $$ that you may otherwise miss out on, go for it. There are multi-billion gaming companies earning money in a lot worse ways than asking a single time payment to unlock the latest update of the game.
If you can find more ways to earn money, it's a good thing, I guess? Personally, I like to support a creator over time, but this wouldn't be _instead_ of subscriptions, just an alternative, right?
correct. Subscriptions will stay the same as they are
