Pledge Annually For Two Months Free!

Hey CAD Patrons!

Patreon has activated my account for a new feature:  You can now choose to pay for access to our Patreon on an annual basis.

I've had a lot of people ask me over the years about supporting with fewer payments, or one lump sum, and Annual Pledges are a move in that direction. If you enjoy the comics I create week in, week out, you can pledge for a year in a single transaction. Pay once, get a full year of Patreon content.

Not only does this support my work, but it reduces transaction fees, the hassle of credit card declines, and for a limited time, pledging annually saves you 16% on the total cost of 12 months- that's two months of Patreon access for free!

For existing patrons the following steps will help you switch over your pledge to annual.

  1. Log in, hover over your profile icon in the top right corner, and select Manage Memberships

  2. From your Active Memberships page click Edit next to the pledge you want to change

  3. You’ll see a familiar checkout page where you can select Annual

  4. Click Update. Note: you’ll be charged upfront for the discounted price

Whether you prefer to subscribe monthly or annually, all of your support through Patreon is tremendously appreciated, and is what lets me continue to draw these comics for you.

Yeah, you got me, too. I switched to yearly and bumped up a tier since it was cheaper. Ironic since I'm moving my funding out of Patreon wherever creators support donating through other platforms. I genuinely enjoy your work, though, so I'm glad I can support it.

I like the yearly option but didn't want to donate less, so I upgraded to the next tier.

Thank you, Stephen!

I haven't seen this feature on any other Patreon account yet. Can any creator on a monthly plan request it be activated?

I don't know. It didn't seem like it was a widespread feature, just something they activate for certain accounts. I think they mentioned that your page had to have been "monthly" for at least a certain amount of time... like to prove you really do this consistently, and prevent people from accepting a bunch of annual pledges in advance and then not following through with the rewards.

I should have signed up years ago, looking forward to the advance stuff.

Changed to yearly ones, thanks for letting us know! Keep up the great work, enjoying your comics immensely!

Honestly I would pay for a tier that would let me read further. :-P Saying Month to Month for now

I have monthly auto-pay setup and it tags you with more $$. So I'll remain the same. Would potentially consider a larger tier lump sum, but like Shawn above me I don't have a huge interest in wallpapers

Switched over to annual, thanks for letting us know! Edit: I didn't realize you'd lose money so I used the "Choose what you pay" option to up it to $60. Hopefully that's a net positive for you in terms of transaction fees and I get charged the same for my $5 tier.

Thanks for the tip! I did the same.

Any way I can support you. Keep up the quality work. Been reading your content for 15 years.

To be entirely honest, I'd love to see more Tiers in general. Like I'm not really restricted by budget and yet the $10 tier doesn't have anything I want(at least I think, I have no idea what kinda desktop themes you actually make), but at the same time would be interested in more bonus comics. Already subscribed to Starcaster, although that doesn't have any extra tier options either.

Are there any types of bonuses you would like to see, Shawn? I'm always open to suggestions.

Hmmm, you getting less money isn't my goal but one payment is more my style. Don't know what I 'll do now.

C

Well, I'm taking a calculated risk XD Obviously ending up being paid less isn't my goal either, but I figured I'd try it and see what happens. At the very least I'm trying to give some options... The two-month discount is a temporary offer though. After a short while I'll reduce the benefit to 1 month free. So if you're determined to give me more money, you could wait until then, still making a single payment.

Stacy Litwin · August 18, 2020

That discount doesn't amount to you getting less money in the end does it?

C
Ctrl+Alt+Del · August 18, 2020

It does, technically. But my hope is to entice some additional Patrons who have thus far shied away from monthly charges, ending up with an overall net positive.
