Wow. I would have thought the subtlety behind that distinction would have been completely beyond Ethan. I can only imagine how traumatized he must be for his brain cells to kick over to his 'genius' mode like that.

I always wondered but yeah definitely a difference between can't die and can't stay dead.

I'm just, ummm. I didn't even consider how traumatic that ought to be even though Ethan doesn't have to fear death in the same way as others. That got deep and disturbing rather quick. All the feels. Edit: Bright side, not dying means having to be in pain while healing from what is often horrible accidents. This way it is quick or can be made to be quick and then you are right back at it.
