Comic for Wendesday 4/3

So for the past week or two, I've been uploading comics for my $3+ Patrons at a higher resolution than I put on the website.

No one's said anything, so I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but... has anyone noticed? XD Is it a good thing? Do you feel like higher resolution images are a nice perk to being a Patron, or is it a sort of "meh" subject?

Just now catching up after a couple weeks not reading. I hadn't noticed at first but it is a nice perk for when I want to zoom in.

I became a 3$ patreon to reward you for over a decade of free comics, and getting the free pdf books. Haven't seen many of those lately so I am hoping the kickstarter for fysical books starts soort. It would be a grate addition to the omnibus

I had noticed it being better a fee days ago, but thought it was just an update on my phone. Now scrolling around it's obvious were you changed, thanks

I thought something broke on the website when I noticed. I would definitely up the resolution on the website though, now it just looks too crummy since you pointed it out.

Huh, yeah. You're right (obviously) this IS higher detail. Honestly? I hop around from the Website (on a PC) to Patreon to Email to mobile to view the comic so frequently, and even when I see the same comic twice in two different spots (email vs patreon vs website) I didn't realize the upload quality was different. *faceplam*

I also mostly view the comics here and hadn't explicitly noticed it, but do appreciate it.

Like so many others, didn't realize as I'm reading the comics 9 times out of 10 in the mail I receive. Nice gesture, but meh ^^

I like the higher resolution. It's great to really zoom in on those panels and not have the text get blurry

I didn't really notice, sorry. But, considering that my wife says, "If it was a snake, it woulda bit ya." a lot, I may not be the best person to ask. :)

I think its a nice perk. Also this comic could easily explain my strongest weapon in Horizon Zero Dawn.

I mostly always view the comics in my webmail client so I wouldn't notice...

Did notice on my desktop, but thought it was a new feature not higher resolution. Definitely happy to see it as a perk

I did think something looked a little different from my pad app to my laptop browser but I figured patreon had modified something in their site code that had yet to make it to the app. That being said, I do appreciate the little extras that do appear from the patreon side of things. Thank you

I'll be honest, I literally never go to the main website anymore, I consume 100% of my daily dose of Tim from Patreon. That said, I had not noticed the resolution change, but it's a nice perk.

It's a nice gesture but like many I view it from my phone and from my Gmail so I can't honestly say I noticed. Nice of you to think about us though! Also, I really read the comic for the stories you think up and apparently also to learn about the games out there that sound good but I'll never have time to play. I'll just have to keep playing them vicariously through you.

Like some of the other commenters here, I didn't notice until I downloaded both versions and compared side by side (after you pointed it out :p ), but the difference is clear for me. I look at the comics on both Patreon and CAD (same web browser), but usually not both at the same time. Thanks for this perk!

A very nice perk. I read the comics from various devices so I noticed the difference .. just thought it was an upgrade for all :) .. but appreciate it as a Patreon upgrade and I think you should advertise it as a perk as well.

I usually read the comic in the notification email from Patreon so I haven't noticed. Makes it easy to me to keep track of what I have read and what I haven't. Probably better ways of doing that, but this works for me. Glad to support the comic and appreciate the convenience of the email!

Can’t remember the last time I looked at a comic outside the app, so I hadn’t noticed — however it’s a nice perk to know that if I wanted to save the image I could have a really nice resolution for it!

I usually read it on my phone but I thought I could zoom in more lately...figured it was just me. But I like it looking at it now.

S
Shawn Spencer · April 2, 2019

Okay, so I downloaded them both and looked at them side to side, and yeah, huge difference in clarity for me. As a side note, am I the only one who frequently learns about games from webcomics these days?

S
Stephanie Rockfield · April 2, 2019

You're definitely not! Graduate school hasn't left me with hardly any (read: no extra) spare time for video games, but I still enjoy getting my gaming fix from CAD ;-)

S
Shawn Spencer · April 2, 2019

What is the resolution? I use a 4k TV instead of a computer monitor, so if it's anything above 3840×2160 I probably won't see it. Of course, it's also possible I'm just not very observant.

I mostly read the comics straight from the Patreon notification email (in Gmail), where it's actually scaled down even more (~502x776).

B
Byron M. · April 2, 2019

It is a nice perk, but I just didn't notice because I typically view them on my phone.

C
Ctrl+Alt+Del · April 2, 2019

I figured that is mostly the case; though the size in the browser is the same, do the larger comics appear any crisper to you?

S
Stuart Platt · April 2, 2019

It is a nice perk. Glad you pointed it out.

Definitely--for myself, I like picking up the little details in the scenes.
