These sorts of empty-calorie, barely-an-announcement announcements drive me a little crazy. You're going to make a big deal about showing me a logo for a game that is still three or four years away, and that's supposed to "wow" us? Especially when you're announcing another iteration of one of the 3-4 franchises keeping your studio in business?
Was anyone expecting Blizzard to not keep milking Diablo? A Lost Vikings revival, that would have blown the doors off. But "more Diablo" is hardly shaking anyone's foundations here.
What do they really expect us to do with a logo and practically no concrete gameplay information? And 3 (but realistically probably 4) more years of development? Honestly, this announcement could have been an email.

I just don’t like the direction Blizzard is going with it. “We’re gonna nuke the world and there won’t be any cities left! Instead you’ll lead a caravan through a wasteland.” Sounds kinda boring, and also makes everything done to try and stop that apocalyptic event a giant waste of time. If I wanted to play Fallout, I’d play Fallout. Hell, even they did it better by having settlements and cities to visit. Really hoping for a U-Turn on this one. I would have much preferred additional expansions for D4, taking place in other areas of Sanctuary to really build out the world, but hey what do I know… only been a fan since the original. If they do continue going in this direction I’ll most likely skip it like I did with Immortal. Which would be a damn shame.
Diablo has a pretty big fanbase, but I think Blizzard has delusions of being Rockstar or Naughty Dog. People would probably go monkeyshit if Last of Us 3 was officially announced, and people absolutely did go monkeyshit when GTA6 was announced officially. This? Meh. Diablo has become the game I play in between POE 2 leagues lately.
Lots of Hype little info on anything; Seeing the HoS; I was like wow maybe a revival, maybe some big rework announcements, they full stopped dev a few years ago, is this the big moment of a reveal... except outside of adding a new playable... i didn't see much else. Wow Forever i know some people have been excited for that, I'd have been more excited to hear Wow Is coming to Game Pass or something. and Starcraft, which i was gonna see if any more details where released.. is it Solo, or Multi player geared? Is it going to be a Warzone/battlefield open world like Defiance? I mean i guess not as bad as the "You all have phones...?" miss
I'm still baffled that people expect anything *but* this from Blizzard. That company has become as soulless and corporately exploity as EA. They've long since ceased being a game company, and now just shovel weaponized-addiction slop. Their dev team and management has zero respect for players, seeing them as nothing more than life support systems for credit cards. "What, don't you guys have phones?!" "You think you do, but you don't"
I have never been a real fan of Diablo 4. The story was okay but the game felt like they tried to make World of Diablo without making World of Diablo and that half in half out feel just ruined the entire game for me. But agreed that I would also be fine waiting 3-4 years for a definite then 12 years for a maybe.
Better 3 years than the 12 years between diablo 2 and 3. I'll happily wait 3 years for a definite rather than the 12 of guessing.
Given D4's reception, and how long it took for D3 to really "gel" (and where that final state was compared to D2, especially LoD), I'm not really getting my hopes up for D5, tbh.
3-4 years has always been Blizzard's announcement timeframe, we got a cinematic and they're still doing seasons for D4. Remember when they didn't say anything about D4 being in development and we got Immortal instead as the announcement?
"What, don't you guys have phone?!" Oh, yes, I remember that one.
I am still waiting for them to announce Starcraft 3, but I doubt it will ever happen :-/
They showed a trailer for StarCraft *something*, but it wasn't "StarCraft 3" per se, and it's planned for 2030, so a ways out there
