A flat wide shot wouldn't be as engaging, quick short back and forth edits in one shots makes it more enticing to the general audience and the eye. You can tell they're in the same room because of their eye lines and the set design.

You're editing is getting so much better in regards to comedic overlays and I love the new set! Keep up the good work.
