Anyone else had this feeling or experience? You have one or more streaming services, you've chosen them yourself, you can scroll and scroll and scroll and probably identify many things you'd like to watch. "Oh yeah, I wanted to see that" or "Oh that looks interesting" or "Oh I loved that, I should watch that again." And maybe you're adding these things to your Watchlist or My List or whatever. And then you watch none of them. You watch nothing. Your whole evening is just scrolling then go to bed. Same as the next night. I sure have. And this is a problem *very specifically* for me of streaming stuff. And not even just movies but music and ebooks too. I have a stack of physical books and I am *always* reading them. I have CDs and LPs that I play every night. When Netflix was physical discs in the mail, I watched a TON of movies and shows. But take away the physicality of my media and I just lose all ambition to actually experience any of it. It's always "well I Have access to that so I'll look at/watch/listen to/read it later." Always *later*. Anyone?
That's because media gets devalued and turned into "content" once you take its corporeal form... once it exists only in the ether, it's not a thing anymore.
first time poster, long time watcher, really enjoy all the stuff you guys do, and just want to say thanks a lot for doing it.
In the genre of prolonged anxiety attack-sterpieces, I just watched A Woman Under the Influence. It shaved years off my life and I thanked it for the privilege.
Was Terry Matalas shipped off to Siberia?
Is Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King the same persons?
If I Had Legs I’d Kick You was such a solid recommendation. Fun(?) and thought-provoking, with plenty pull to watch it again. You could have a number of interpretations of the meaning, but it also has enough of a solid narrative to be enjoyed on the face. Standout directing and sound design and a great cast.
Seeing that nu trek footage; I’d rather shit in my hands and clap.
that's their recipe now
I had the same fuckin reaction as Mike to 5NAF2 - I thought I was having a stroke because as a full grown adult I couldn't follow the plot of a fucking kids movie.
I'm being 100% sincere here when I say I love that they don't do any research. • KEEPER was made during the Actor's strikes of 2023 while THE MONKEY was on hold. That's why it has a pandemic production feel. • The IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU director is married to the Safdie brother's collaborator (one of the writer's on Marty Supreme) and her first movie has Greta Gerwig and it's an insane and hilarious low budget mumblecore movie called YEAST.
https://www.lecinemaclub.com/archives/yeast/ It's too bad it's not available at all. However FROWNLAND is available as a Criterion Channel release -- one of the most fucked up movies, would LOVE it if Jay and Mike watched it. It's like a BOTW movie in quality and it's not for normies.
Welcome to Derry was quite enjoyable, and certainly didn’t have the same amount of plot-holes as Stranger Things. Bill Skarsgaard really is great as Pennywise; I liked that the show didn’t reveal him right away.
Also no Bring Her Back? You watched 37 hours of Stranger Things but not Bring Her Back?
I feel like they mentioned this one around when it came out, and said they liked it. I have vague memories of them mentioning it on HitB earlier in 2025.
Mike I am holding your hand and looking into your eyes and saying please please watch every Freddy movie that comes out and talk about it on your YouTube channel because that was on par with your Braum’s The Boy 2 review.
The theme of the movie If I had Legs I'd Kick You sounds interesting!
Just in time for my birthday! Thanks guys!
Keeper barely showed in Germany... the one theatre that showed it at all in my area only had a few screenings of the German dub. So I'm still waiting for this one :(. And If I Had Legs is so going on the watchlist.
Even in Canada, where it was filmed (and where Oz Perkins is apparently trying to become a permanent resident), it only played in theatres for about a week. Big change from the marketing budgets of Longlegs and The Monkey!
Feel like what's going to happen is that not only will it be revealed by a leak or confessional that such-and-such scripts are written by AI but that Hollywood or at least individual in-the-know writers has/have been using proto-AI for *decades*. Like, for most of the 21st century. Secret thumb drives passed from hand hand, etc.
"Not quite as dumb as Stranger Things" is the new "It's a lot of fun!"
Turtle Dreams is the key to all of this.
The Turtle Dreams / SOS crossover is a missed opportunity for the ages.
You totally could have left this on the original video. You didn’t have to split them apart. Oh well. Have a great day.
Perkins started out brilliantly as a director, but REALLY went downhill after "The Blackcoat's Daughter"... :/
TOGETHER FOREVER AND NEVER TO PART 📣📣📣🔈🔉🔊
I honestly thought my husband and I were the only people in the world who saw (and liked) Keeper. But, of course: Mike and Jay! I'm just glad SOMEONE out there has good taste. This has made me happy.
Just looking at that Starfleet Academy poster gives me Tarkalean flu.
Wait, I haven't watched the video yet... That thing is real!?!
Imagine not wanting the Rich Evans in your movie
Don't worry RLM. I'm here for you. But you have to see Life of Chuck. It's freaking amazing. Do it. Do it now.
“The Life of Chuck” is wonderful.
Would be cool to have an actual discussion of Eddington
Eddington is also a recurring DS9 character...segue to their upcoming project
Mike's makeup looks amazing in the thumbnail. I wonder what palettes he uses?
Suburban decay
Oz didn’t write Keeper btw.
Nobody wrote THAT movie...
