Best of the Worst: Christmas or Chance

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.

RLM ends the year with an all-timer: First movie is a follow-up to an iconic Half-in-the-Bag that features d-listers that are ridiculed the appropriate amount, wandering around “the woods” (a river, but it still counts), and story beats that go nowhere and amount to nothing; bonus points that it is a vacation picture by virtue of having a nice house and “making do” with the set design. The second one is a video that baffles more than answers and address the “canon” of a cult curio. Stoklasa makes terrible puns and lets the great ones fly over his head. A bit hypothesizing about the film’s lore goes big and a little too long …just the way we like it. And lastly, we get BotW notoriety—at this point, heritage—with a Sayre brothers vanity picture that couldn’t have been more bonkers. After the boys have gotten warmed up, they go all in on the discussion/roast, and it’s like seeing an Olympic relay race team execute flawlessly. It’s been a helluva year, and RLM has been the antidote when we’ve needed them the most; dropping ‘Impressions’ on a most-inauspicious day, resurrecting forgotten 90s thrillers, uncovering insane new releases, ranking beloved filmmakers, investigating A.I., and bitching about movie theaters. They are a constant in a world that is predictable only in its un-predictable-ness, a lighthouse in a hurricane, and a Tums Festival when Hollywood Cop is giving us gas. Thank you for the work this year, fellas. We couldn’t have made it without you 🫡.

This Christmas episode feels lower key than past ones, and IMHO that is a good thing considering how much they have put out since the Halloween episode/s. I hope this one was a little easier for everyone to do so they can chill a bit now.

Okay RLM crew, I’ve been watching your coverage of the Sayre brothers for a while and I’d like to share some (alleged) personal experiences, which you all may find interesting. I want to error in the side of being cautious about what I say in a public space, as my interactions with Garrett “Gary” Sayre (allegedly) occur in a professional capacity and I don’t want to venture into publicly violating any sort of confidentiality. But, avs someone who has interacted with him fairly regularly for the past 7-8 years, I can confirm that his on-screen personality is as close to his authentic persona as you could possibly imagine (allegedly). There's some misinformation about how/when Rapsittie was uploaded. Colin didn't upload the film onto Vimeo in 2012. Colin was pressured into giving a download link to the film after receiving $350 AUD for the film and not responding to the buyer for months on end. That download was then uploaded in September of 2015.
