I love that This cover actually got to Number 1 on the UK charts and they performed on comic relief with Tom Jones

R
Ryan Dack · September 16, 2026

You are the only people I’ve seen/spoke to about this show that are on Stacy side, everyone think she is very annoying and needs to grow up

Hollyoaks is a soap opera in the UK

House prices in Billericay will be more than double those in Barry due to its proximity to London

When Bryn kept shouting Surprise it looked like he just improvised it as eveyone else was just as surprised and cudn't stop laughing.

K

Fun fact, Bryn’s house is available to rent on Air B&B now 😅 I live fairly close to Barry so me and my friend are going to stay soon. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Sorry if it's already been said, but ensure you watch the 2008 Xmas special after season 2 before starting season 3 🙂

N
Nicola · September 2, 2026

How poignant for Nessa and Bryns rendition of islands in the stream to be in this week's episode! RIP Dolly 🩷.. I've always thought Gavin was incredibly self absorbed and inconsiderate in this episode 😠 it's fine for Stacey to uproot her whole life but unreasonable for him to do the same?... 👀👀

Ginger Woods · September 2, 2026

'play it nice and cool Trigg' a reference to the OFAH bar scene

I have got the complete opposite view of the Gavin and Stacey argument. I will always be on Gav's side when it comes to this. I just find Stace incredibly whiney, immature, flakey and fickle and she is probably my least favourite character. Gav is much more level headed than her and somewhat normal and yeah I suppose he wasn't thinking about Barry but does she just expect him to leave his job and move to Barry. They are both quite selfish in various ways and they really did rush their love story without thinking about next steps. As Joey would say "You got married too fast".

L
Lolly · September 2, 2026

This is what happens when fools rush in. They never talked about what their married life was going to look like. It was assumed Stacey would give up her life and move to Essex. In Ireland, anyone who wants to get married in a church must do a marriage course where you discuss things like finances, children, etc. the things married people most fight about and conflict resolution. Too many focus on the wedding and not on their compatability. Gavin and Stacey will work it out but they made life harder for themselves by not having these conversations early on

P
Peta Kelk · September 2, 2026

I have watched Gavin and Stacey so many times but I still laughed so hard that I somehow managed to spit coke in my own eye 😂 (soft drink not the hard stuff lol).

Fortuitous timing on the Dolly tribute. Such a great episode, they packed a lot into this one.

S

Mike says 'I cant judge as I was oblivious in the early days' and Jess firmly just says 'yes' 😂😂😂

I
Ian P · September 2, 2026

Did anyone used to watch Eastenders when the guy who played Michael was in it? Complete polar opposite to Michael's character, he was. Full on evil 😈

C
CorporalFriendlyShark · September 3, 2026

There’s a great bit in a future episode where he mentions watching Eastenders, he was in it in real life at the time 😂

R
Roger · September 2, 2026

Yes, another poster has put up the YouTube link. Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones (as Nessa and Bryn) did a full video version of 'Islands In The Stream' for the Comic Relief charity a few years back with Tom Jones as well. It's good fun.

M
Michael May · September 2, 2026

People often have a go at Stacey for her behaviour, but Gavin is also pretty selfish. He won’t consider Barry at all, which isn’t that fair, especially when you will get a lot more bang for you buck there!

M
Matt · September 2, 2026

Play it cool Trig

R

You missed the Only Fools And Horses reference... "play it cool Trigg"

E
Emma Samuel · September 2, 2026

I like that this show deals with early marriage and the mistakes that get made on both sides during the adjustment period. In this particular case Gavin is being totally selfish. In case the timings weren't clear, he promised to take Stacey in the morning, then promised to leave at 2pm, and then as soon as she was gone it became 4pm. So he literally couldn't be bothered to be up there for any longer than the party. He also couldn't even be bothered to put on a cowboy hat - he was wearing his own clothes even though his parents were in costume, and was outright rude to Bryn and Jason. But the nice thing about this show is that they learn and grow together!

G
George · September 6, 2026

That’s true, in the beginning I felt he was really inconsiderate towards her and how she would be missing her family and home, and he didn’t really take it seriously enough. The only thing I don’t like is that they never really found a middle ground, he ended up having to change jobs and moving all the way to Wales, away from his family and big friend group and then Stacey was happy. Would have liked them to find more of a compromise, but it does really show the struggles of early marriage well as a whole.

T
The Joker & The Thief · September 2, 2026

Gavin thought it was pointless taking two Cars and then Stacey storms out Shouting like a Child after being Insufferable the Entire Time she’s in Billericay. He’s not being a Knobhead, his Wife won’t listen to anyone and Whines all the time.

c
carnyx · September 2, 2026

Having been married for 25 years, the slight annoyance of Gav using a second car would have been the better option. Much better than watching his wife storm off in a paddy to travel alone to their shared destination. That type of incident will be getting callbacks for years to come and will be deployed expertly every time you are put on limited rations and invited to sleep on the sofa. Young love, it's a bumpy ride.

Ness and Bryn singing Dolly Parton was perfect timing

k
kev carroll · September 2, 2026

M
MT · September 2, 2026

There's an ongoing theme in this series that Stacey's family are from a working class background and Gavin's are more middle class, which is why Pam's a bit snobby and Gavin doesn't want to move to Wales. Barry is poorer town than the suburban area of Essex that they live in so they look down on it, even though they probably come from working class background themselves.

N
Neil's Old Radios · September 2, 2026

Exactly. I don't know how class works in the USA (they'd possibly say it's just a British thing but I doubt that). But in the UK it's definitely what Freud(*) calls "the narcissism of small differences". * although I'd heard the phrase I had to look up that it was Freud so I could sound more well-read than I really am😉

J
JJB · September 2, 2026

Stacey is such a spoilt brat

m
morbid snails · September 2, 2026

Absolutely. She really reminds me of my nightmare first wife, our marriage only lasted 14 months😫

L
Lew w · September 2, 2026

In the USA they might have to travel one day for a party the next day but we don't haha we can leave one end of the country for a party then same night

P
Paul Tromans · September 2, 2026

The song they all joined in when Smithy arrived at the house was the rap section from the official 1990 England football world cup song 'World In Motion' by New Order. Its a section that a lot of England fans would know the words too

N
Neil's Old Radios · September 2, 2026

I do like the bit where they keep going through the part where none of them know the words, until Pam arrives 😊

J
Jay Lo · September 2, 2026

I love that mike picked up on nessa washing her fingers. Its one of the best subtle jokes in the series andni think a lot of people miss it. Water goin in the sink with the dishes and casual wipe on the tea towel make it even better 🤢🤣🤣

F
Fred bates · September 2, 2026

In england in mid december , the sun sets , and it gets dark , very early , but on the flip side in the height of the summer , the sun stays out until like 11 at night.

Im glad you posted this. I think they will love it now. Its brilliant. It would be even better if we got to watch their reaction to it.

K
Kathy Hills · September 2, 2026

I am appreciating this show so much more seeing you two enjoying it so much! So much good stuff still to come. I think this is my favourite reaction of the week now. And I am a huge OFAH fan, but this is turning out funnier.

N
Neil's Old Radios · September 2, 2026

I have to say I find Stacey the most annoying character in this show, but I can see why people take her side over this. Isn't the whole tension point of the plot that they come from different worlds and one has to give theirs up, because they got together when they were living apart? A more common scenario is couples meeting where they live, or (as in our case) meeting when they're both living a long way from where they were brought up, so they've both already gone through the leaving home phase.

J
John · September 3, 2026

All the southern lot are insufferable.

N
Neil's Old Radios · September 2, 2026

17:00 It would take 4 or 5 hours to get from Billericay to Barry in afternoon traffic, even if they didn't have a break.

J
James Evans · September 2, 2026

I’m really loving your reactions to Gavin & Stacey. When you come to the UK, are you planning on going to Wales? If so, I definitely recommend staying in Cardiff for a few days, admittedly I’m biased because I live there, but if you do a day in Barry, which is a 30 min train ride from Cardiff, you can do a Gavin and Stacey bus tour of the locations, it’s really fun.

J
J · September 2, 2026

Funny to see you here Aden! Just yesterday I was getting mad at YouTube for shadowbanning a tame but direct quote from Beastman vs Skeletor on one of your shorts 🤣... "Furry fool, you are mine..." etc!

M
Michael Wake · September 2, 2026

Gavin is clearly someone who has been coddled his entire life and just can't handle moving away from that life, but expects Stacey to have no issues doing that for him.

G
George · September 6, 2026

But he does end up having to be the one who gives everything up so Stacey is then happy, should have found a middle ground really.

R
Robeet Fyfe · September 2, 2026

Hope u watch all 3 specials so good

J
Josh · September 2, 2026

Oh Gav really let the side down today 😵

D
Daniel Davies · September 2, 2026

They must recorded this reaction just before Dolly Parton passed, because I was probably expecting a more emotional reaction to ‘Islands in the Stream’.

J

D

Yep, specifically from the infamous bar scene. I'm surprised M&J didn't catch it.

I stayed on Barry Island for the 2005 playoffs. It's ok for a day, but living there would be miserable. Sorry to anyone from Barry, but there's not a lot to do, unless you enjoy shite fairground rides and rain.

H
