God I hate Stacey
You guys are the sweetest. I'm so enjoying watching this with you and through your perspective. Love from Cymru 🏴
I love a bit of james blunt
Why has Mike got such strict rules about when its appropriate to eat PB&J? Live a little Michael 😅😉
Nice reference to Culverhouse Cross!
It’s a shame you miss a lot of the uk references but I’m glad they’re funny enough out of context too. Richard and Judy were the hosts of Good Morning
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the Christmas episodes actually have some relevance to the whole story. And should be watched to bridge the series.
I know you have already done your poll for the next series, but the scene at the end with Bryn singing really reminds me of Car Share with Peter Kay & Sian Gibson. It’s a perfect show to laugh along to with just them to in a car.
It’s nessa being nessa just go with it lol
smithy in real life too thactress is sheriden smith she acts so well
I love how much you guys are loving this ❣️❤️❣️❤️
America has drive-thru banks ffs. It’s insane!
when nessa mentions noel, and "pure and simple" shes quoting lyrics from a song noel was in with a band called Hear Say
I forgot how funny that breakfast scene is 🤣🤣🤣
Peanut butter on toast is quite standard for breakfast over here! "Sectioning" might be mentioned if someone had doughnuts for breakfast!
"Did you try and get me sectioned?" lol
I really love that you get this and love the characters as much as the millions of people who originally watched it and propelled it to one of the best comedy series of all time. The naysayers totally ignore the wonderful writing of the script - it’s pure genius! I love reliving every moment of watching this with you. ❤️
I love these little 'ubiquitous/coincidencadtal' moments, at '20.15 min' plays the criminally under appreciated UK band 'I Am Kloot/No Fear Of Falling' I literally bought tickets to see John Bramwell (lead singer songwriter) in a local town Warrington next month...it's ace that Mike and Jess get snippets of amazing musicians from across the pond...obviously what reaction channels are all about🙌❤️🎸🍻
What a lovely reaction.
Sheridan smith ( smithy’s sister) has an amazing voice … shes also the lead in 2 pints of larger … which I think was in one of your polls
I'd absolutely love to see them react to two pints of lager. Gaz Is one of my all time favourite characters. But I doubt it'll happen as it not as popular as other shows on thier polls, plus it got pretty bad after season 6
To be honest I'm none the wiser about who Rudi Ruth Sheridan Cordern Smithy is after reading the comments
It's easy. Smithy's sister is Smithy, but her real name is Ruth (minor spoiler, sorry). But Smithy's sister is also called Smith in real life. Whereas Smithy in real life has a sister called Ruth. Who was asked to go and get Smithy, that is to say Smithy's sister Ruth, not the Smithy who in real life is the sister of the unnamed person in the drive-through called Ruth in real life. All clear now? 🙂
Sheridan Smith, who plays Smithy’s sister in this, is a big actor over here. She plays gritty parts and is very talented. She was in one of the most popular and well-written episodes of Inside No 9, called The Twelve Days of Christine. Amazing 30 minutes of TV.
The greatest show ever created, in my opinion x
I haven't watched the show since the jame corden controversy kicked off. It holds up better than I thought. Mick is one of my favourite TV dads and Bryn is Bryn!
Series 1, Series 2, the 2008 Christmas Special, Series 3, 2019 Christmas Special, 2024 Christmas Special Correct way to watch it 🫡
100 %
This was such a nice episode in terms of the program and reaction combined. Lots of positive vibes and laughter and a lovely story between the two of you and about the family situation when you first got married. Much love guys!
Bryn is the best character by far
Just got your patreon just to watch all these I need more!! My favourite show in the world and just love you guys, we need the rest done asap so I can binge them all like I done with today up till now!
I’m not crying YOU’RE crying
I’ve decided I’m going to move in with Jess after she said donuts were acceptable for breakfast 😂❤️
Have you guys heard about Lucy Davis from the Office such a shame
What about her?!
Bryn's American friend is eating pb&j at the aerodrome cos he's been displaced by hurricane katrina.
You probably won't have heard but Lucy Davis who played Dawn in the Office has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. I don't really know what else to say.
I look forward to Wednesdays for this reaction
Oh, its my favourite time of the week, I can't lie <3
It's funny that Jess mentioned wanting to shrink Bryn to put in her pocket. Rob Brydon does an amazing impression of a small man trapped in a box. No doubt loads of clips of it on YouTube.
Such a great reaction, absolutely loved this
The show transcends culture and country. the realness of the situations and the characters are written beautifully. Having Gavin and Stacey be the straight men and giving the rest of the cast equal time to be silly and real is just amazing making this a classic. I can see this show being the same as Only fools in the future. when we are all old and passing. a new group of people and reactors will pick this up and STILL resonate with the shows theme and message. I personally see this as a Smithy and Nessa show Gavin and Stacey is just the vehicle to drive it forward.
Awww I feel for Stacey, I know exactly how she feels. I married a soldier, and our first military quarter was a 5-hour drive away from my home town/family. I loved us having our first home together and being married, but I cried for days - in fact, every time I spoke to any of my family and friends, I would end up sobbing for weeks after.
You are right about Nessa's line delivery. Because of the character, the slow and precise delivery almost has you hanging on every word, to catch a joke or a little nugget of wisdom. Perhaps just the way she adds the S's at the end of some words. Brilliant performances all round really, yet her cadence just grounds it, yet elevates it too.
Without wanting to spoil future episodes, some of Ruth Jones’ performances to come are just utterly beautiful.
This is a great show don't care what anyone says . Very well written 👏 👌 should of been called smithy and nes tho 😂😂
2 years ago today I was in Barry Island! They have so much merch as you can imagine.
Can’t believe you’re 8 episodes into this already. Knew you’d love it.
Time is moving too fast! I dont like it 😳
Ruth jones (Nessa) and James Corden (Smithy) star and wrote the show. His sister in the show is Sheridan Smith, an award winning actor and singer.
Absolutely love the James Blunt scene, it's something I regularly recreate in the car haha
I think most of what Nessa says will go over Mike and Jess's heads as it nearly always involves some niche reference to a British C-List celebrity that she's met 😆
Or "known" as in the biblical sense ! I find these gems hilarious . Hopefully, now that you've mentioned it, M & J can imagine her referencing obscure personalities that they do know.
Rudy his sister is Sheridan Smith in real life, ironically
The breakfast scene is always great 😭😂 the fast cuts to their different faces to every beat is hilariously dramatic
The fact you enjoy this show, makes me think you should consider checking the show fat friends, it was the show James and Ruth did before this and it's how they met and started writing this show afterwards.
Na no excuse about the room, she's being a brat 🙄
Thank fck, thought I was gonna hae to converse wi the mrs there 😅
Fun fact - when Nessa pulls away in the truck towards the end of the episode, that’s actually Ruth Jones driving it, and she clipped the red car you can see parked up on the side of the road in the distance.
Hi, it is Ruth Jones who plays Nessa, the actress who plays "Smithy" the sister is Sheridan Smith.
Your reaction to Mick’s speech about fatherhood to Smithy makes my heart melt ❤️ I became a first-time father back in January, I’m in my mid-30’s with a partner I’ve been with for 11 years but it still rings completely true. Nobody ever feels truly ready for parenthood.
Smithies sister is actually an actress called Sheridan Smith. She was in a number of sitcoms in the UK as well as more serious rolls and is regarded very highly as talented actress. I believe she was dating James Cordon around the time this was filmed.
Smithy's sister is Sheridan Smith, who's gone on to be a big tv star in her own right
She has won a couple of Laurence Olivier Awards for her West End stage shows as well.
Her real name is Sheridan smith not Ruth corden
You're mistaken about the context of this. They are referring to the first server at the window - who is James Corden's sister Ruth. Who then get's Smithy's sister who is played by Sheridan Smith.
Smithy’s sister is played by Sheridan Smith, she’s a fantastic actress James’ real sister was the first person at the drive through that went to get her
His real sister, Ruth, is nicknamed Rudi hence Sheridan Smith's character's name in the series.
Excellent
I was worried 🥲😅
Love this show so much it just has so much heart. The characters all feel so real!
Love how you are loving this show. I'm enjoying it all over again (and more) with you. Especially knowing the plot twists etc. that are coming up later. You're going to REALLY enjoy it going forward.
Can someone let them know about the comic relief sketch "smithy meets the England football Team" it's easy to find and only 8mins very funny. Be worth adding to the Gavin Stacey collection maybe at end of this series.
There are a couple - the comic relief one with George Michael, the sports personality of the year speech.....
Sheridan Smith wo played James Corden's sister was his girlfriend at the time. She's in loads of things
Smithy "don't come on me me mate" Bryn "👀"
peanut butter on toast is very normal for breakfast
I have mine with banana sliced
Smithy's sister is Sheridan Smith, they actually dated in real life lol
Omg that pause of Bryn in the car had me howling 🤣🤣🤣
Nessa’s pure and simple line is from song lyrics from Hear’Say that Noel was a member of ‘Do I stay or do I go now’ is a play on the Clash song, but you probably got that one
pb&j is an all day food imo 🤤
There’s me worried that this was another Father Ted situation 😂
No, they definitely love this show, can’t wait to see them follow it through to the end!
Hey everyone!
Richard and Judy are famous morning TV presenters that are a married couple
And Richard did a famously cringeworthy Ali G impression, in costume, on TV. Hence the reference.
Don't come on me mate 🤣🤣
I'd never noticed that line before but it cracked me up this time🤣🤣
Smithy is such an arse having a go at Stacey 🤣big baby having a baby
He did get some pretty crazy news. Anyone would act out and point fingers 😅
Richard and Judy is famous couple in UK. Nessa was there nanny
You guys always pull through!
Was getting worried when I didn’t see this pop up this morning! 😮💨 I’ll make sure not to mention the unmentionable this time, lest I feel the wraith of the enforcers again 🥴😅
lol I was checking my phone every 2 minutes. I had just started a 12 hour shift and was starting to panic 🫨
About bloody time 😭
