"Invincible Master of Death" (from 2008 or 2009)

A guest comic for an old webcomic known as "Pictures for Sad Children". Was reminded of it from a fan on bluesky and went and found it in my old hard-drive files. I remember being really jazzed by PFSC and its vibe when it landed on the scene. I was a fan of the comic and the author was a friend to me at times when I visited them in Chicago and went on a road trip to Toronto with them.

But they fundamentally changed as a person and I don't mean their transitioning. They were heavily into DMT (they made a book about their experiences) and I feel it changed their outlook on everything and they decided to burn whatever bridges attached to online comics that there were. Myself included. I wish them well, but tend to put all that behind me. Forward momentum.

Still, what a strip! Back when I was a lover of a ruler and big straight lines. My Chris Ware era.

I always remember the girl with the pillowcases when I think about that comic. Was sad when it ended the way it did.

Thanks for reminding me of PFSC. I adored that strip. I never had any idea what happened to it, so thanks for the little bit of insight :/

i still love it and it left its mark, for better and worse. not one to usually talk on these things personally, but maybe it’s okay to.
