Terran Command and Federal Unit Manager News
Good day!
I've come to share some news and updates regarding Federal Unit Manager in response to the recent Open BETA and Closed BETA Updates for Starship Troopers Terran Command.
There's some good news and there's some bad news. More good news exists, though. I promise!
Terran Command Updates
As of Starship Troopers Terran Command update v2.0.9 (2.00.09), FUM v1.9103r (Latest version as of the day this post was made) is not compatible. That's ok, though. A fix is on it's way but it requires quite a bit of rewriting to how modpacks work from this point forward so I'm sorry for the delay in how long it may have taken since that update. A fix is on it's way and I'm doing my best to get it out as quickly as possible.
I have been granted access to the "Editor BETA" Closed BETA which includes the official Scenario Editor. This is important as it gives me a headstart with designing new Federal Unit Manager features for that mode. It is a very powerful tool though I am not at liberty to elaborate any information regarding it. I will say, however, that new Federal Unit Manager features WILL be coming out that will be compatible with this new mode once it hits the public!
Federal Unit Manager Updates
And now for the Federal Unit Manager news. For some time now I've been promising my fans a new section of Federal Unit Manager which involves a form of Scenario Editor. Mainly for editing campaign Scenario Files. I've been hard at work all month perfecting these FUM features. Unfortunately it's been extremely difficult for 2 main reasons.
Trigger Files have been unknown to me
Due to the complex nature of adding Triggers into scenarios, it has been very difficult to decypher what exactly everything means as to how Terran Command reads triggers and complex programming. It's important that I do because it's required to understand if I was to implement trigger editing in Scenarios in FUM. I've made progress but unfortunately it was not sufficient. How much I understand the Trigger Files after being given access to the BETA, however, makes this point no longer an issue.
General stability and design issues
Despite my hard work, the features I've been designing simply have not been as sufficient as I'd like. I think, with enough given time, I can make it work more and more but adding full units and modifying existing ones is a large task and would require far more time to program into FUM.
With these set-backs, the progress with the Scenario Editor I've been promising my fans for FUM have simply been sluggish and I've decided to completely cancel the entire ordeal of a Scenario Editor for editing campaign Scenarios. That's the bad news. HOWEVER there is indeed GOOD news that comes along with it!
My decision to continue designing a dedicated Scenario Editor has been withdrawn and I may instead make a limited Scenario Editor instead (The BETA Scenario Editor for editing Deployable Units will stay) but the GOOD news is that most, if not ALL, of the features I've hoped to implement in FUM's Scenario Editor is entirely possible to accomplish in the official Scenario Editor which makes mine, or at least the vision I had for mine, obsolete so there isn't much need for mine anyway! As I've said, Federal Unit Manager will still be getting new features that will be designed for the official Scenario Editor once it is in the public.
After gaining access to the BETA, I've understood the Trigger Files to duplicate in FUM however at this point there is no need to create the features for the reasons stated above.
Expect another post regarding updates soon for FUM. As long as everything goes to plan and nothing unexpected happens in real life, a hotfix for the new update will come within 3 days from now. I'll keep everyone updated.
Also here's another cool thing: Patreon just updated their website so now I'm able to upload videos without needing to upload them to my Youtube Channel! That's handy and convenient!
Thank you for reading!
Keep killing Bugs and keep the battle going!
One more thing....
Big news coming soon regarding Hooker Bugs on the same day as the FUM hotfix launch! Stay tuned!
