Would you still support me if all my comics became public?

Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking about a possible change to how I release my work, and I’d really like to hear your opinion before making any decisions.

The idea would be to make all of my WIPs, images and finished comics publicly available for free, instead of keeping some of them exclusive to paid members.

Patreon would then become primarily a way to support the continuation of my work and helping me dedicate time to creating new comics, improving my skills, producing animations, and funding future projects.

In other words, you wouldn’t be paying to unlock the content anymore. You’d be supporting me because you enjoy the work and want me to keep making more of it.

Nothing is changing yet. I’m just trying to understand how you guys would feel about this model.

If all my work became publicly available, would you continue supporting me?

Early access on Patreon—ideally about a month before the public release—is a great strategy. However, for visual content creators, maintaining a steady stream of free posts is essential to drive engagement and attract your target audience. I recommend keeping one or two projects on Patreon; then, whenever you create a new one, you can release the queued project to the general public. This way, if something happens to you (and I certainly hope nothing does) or you become unable to create content for an extended period, you have a bank of quality paid content to keep your supporters engaged while you navigate those difficult times.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Ero_Hacker! Really really! I think this way could be the best balance for an artist like me.

Most of the creators I support make their content public after a short while

There’s a great upside to this: more people will be able to access my work. Thanks for sharing! :)

early access for patrons remain the best compromise.

I agree! That’s probably the format I’ll stick with! Thanks!

Tbh as everyone would id rather NOT pay for stuff if i dont have to but having WIPs and like a week/month early access to full thing would be worth spending.

Thanks for sharing, Impl0dedcrev! Yes, I'm thinking of a way to maintain the benefits for paying members, but I'll take some time to consider it carefully. Either way, thanks for the comment.

For me and early release for patron (say a week early before public) and wips as you go along a set patron only would be great

Thanks for the feedback, Storm! Yes! It would have involved a somewhat different kind of early access, but doing it this way offers some great benefits for both me as the creator and the audience consuming the content. I’ll share the details after the launch of Succumb Raider.
