Chapter 10 weekly status report (14)
Hi everyone, a really quick update this time.
I've been progressing the script, writing Lena's side of the story. Simultaneously, I've continued to work on new drawings and also editing already colored ones. Some new outfits and character sprites have been created too, maybe I'll show some of them down the line.
For now, I'll share with you the drawing test that the studio I hired did for me:
This is the best one I've got so far and I think it's pretty serviceable. After doing a quick pass on it, this is the result:
I've decided I will keep drawing all the faces and hair myself, since it's were the hand of the author is more recognisable. With this method I've commissioned one scene, and if I'm pleased with the results, I will commission a second one. This should help speed up work, and hopefully I can end up delegating more scenes (though I'll keep drawing entirely the ones I consider more important).
What do you think about it? I read you.

I'm a huge fan of your games! keep up the great work! Question: is there going to be more Stan/Lena scenarios? I'm such a Stan for Stan 😎
My virus program told me the download might damage my PC. Did anyone else get a warning like that? Or was it just a false positive
Never had anything like this in the last 2 years. There is always a small chance that the storage-site has been hacked and the archive injected with some trojan, but I don't think that's likely.
Think this is good Eva. A good compromise to help with your ORS workload while still protecting the quality we know is important to you :). Continue to hang in there and continue to pull whatever pleasure you derive from creating.
You’re the one that sets the standards if they can do the bulk of the works and it saves you times that’s just smart
Eva, you've come a long way from GGGB - And I absolutely love the art of ORS - For me the most important thing is that your style (and the "feeling" of the situation) is recognizable in each and every scene even when this means that development takes longer. EDIT: It's a perfect decision to keep painting the faces/hair by yourself !
Status report, yay! I'm very glad to hear that you have found a working solution for outsourcing the linearts. I hope this will speed up the development process significantly. I can't wait to see what you were up to. Keep it up!
The tester image seems pretty great from what I can tell. I'm all for whatever helps you in your endeavor to make the game! Excited for what the studio brings to the table.
Has this game moved to a yearly update??🤨 dont we even a get a update on how close we are? Why have this game developer gone from, regular updates, to absolutly none?
Dude, did you miss the poll, when we could decide whether we get a split release of the next chapter ??? People chose a combined one, knowing that this will delay the release.
To put the waiting time in perspective: In order to kill some time, Inrecently played through BrightPast - a game on wich the developer worked on for 3 years. It took me 2(!) nights and I was through the whole game with almost every gallery picture. And there was a lot of grinding (you need 10.000$, please work 5 days for it... come back in a week... there are 5 options to have sex, but you only can unlock one every three days, ...) that stands for one of the two days. I played 2 months almost every night in order to get most of the non-repetitive paths of GGGB and every single playthough of ORS takes 3 to 5 days, maybe even more. Yes, there is no new chapter every month, but every update ist worth more than a year in many other games. Yes, I would love to see faster updates, but I prefer quality and quantity over only fastness. Back on topic: Nice to see you finding help without you compromising the heart of your unique style.
Hey Dennis, what is BrightPast about? How will you categorize it?
This is great news. I am very happy that you are actively looking for solutions. This is an excellent work ethic. Can't wait for the next release. Thanks Eva.
I think it looks really good. It's hard to give a full verdict without seeing how it works together with the colouring, but from this sneak peek it looks like you've found someone you can give away some of the control to without worrying. The eyes and the eyebrows were the things that didn't look completely like Lena, but the small adjustments fixed it. If you'd posted just the final version without commenting on it, I doubt anyone would've realized it wasn't your own work. Also, humble sneak peek requests! It would be cool to know the name of the upcoming episode. Also, do you plan on posting the sprite of the new character you showed the silhoutte of earlier, like you've done with other new characters? The final coloured versions of the art you've already posted would be nice as well. Though I suspect you want to keep it a secret who gets the pleasure of meeting Holly in her underwear…
Looks amazing! I can understand not being able to do everything on your own. I'm glad you have the funds to be able to outsource!!
Smart idea about still drawing the faces.
Cool. I like it. I still wish you can make all. But it is to much. And to see in the future and even more great stories from you
Looks really good, and I'm betting you'll be happier and happier with the first draft hair and face as time goes on.
Looks amazing as always. Just replayed ORS and GGGB again and I’m hyped for the next update. Quick question there are a couple of scenes I can’t seem to unlock in ORS will there be a guide to unlock the scenes or hints placed in the gallery?
Have you tried the existing guide from BloodyMares (or similar)? Yeah, GGGB ist still a good game to play :)
It's hard to give up control. That's why most parents cringe when their child starts elementary school. If you're happy with it, your audience will be happy with it. It sounds like you're happy with it.
The lineart is REALLY good! And kudos on your recognition that you should keep doing the faces and hair to maintain consistency throughout the project!
