GGGB characters in ORS!
So the cat's out of the box now! The thing I had been teasing before releasing Chapter 6 was the appearance of Jessica from GGGB in ORS, confirming the link between the two games. This is something many of you asked me if I would do, wanting to see the older cast make some sort of appearance in the new story.
This is something I had been considering from the get go myself. It's always fun to make an homage to what came before and you might've noticed that one of the themes of my games is linking characters and stories together, so tying together GGGB and ORS was a cool idea. If you've been reading the series of articles I've been publishing recently and saw the character poll I did on GGGB you had some clues about my intentions...
There was one big problem to solve, though. GGGB doesn't have a canon ending, but a ton of different variations. If I wanted some characters to make a cameo, I would need either to pick one of the ending states, disregarding all the others, and that was against what GGGB represented. Every player crafted their own story and had a different canon version of the characters in his mind, so forcing a specific one wouldn't cut it. Other games solve this by importing the save files from one game to the new one, like Mass Effect, for example. But ORS is not a direct sequel to GGGB, not everybody would have played the old game, and I don't have the technology to import saves. This was the route I wanted to take, though.
I was really happy with the idea I came up with at the end. If GGGB characters appeared in ORS they would need to have multiple variations. And the way to go was tying those variations to the choices the player was making in ORS. That way, Jessica exists in two potential states now: depending on the route you took in ORS, one her possible endings becomes real, retroactively shaping the story of GGGB. This way, all the possible endings remain canon (even if I don't show all of them in the game).
It was really cool to redesign Jess. It's been around 5 years in-game from the events of GGGB, and she has matured and progressed. A lot of care was put into this homage, and I love seeing her HD version! She won't be the only character making a cameo though...
Are you excited to see other members of GGGB cast show up in ORS? Who would you like to see, and in which of their possible versions? I have some ideas already, and I'll implement them bit by bit, as the story of ORS progresses.

Does that mean Ash being a porn star is now canon?
Really loved the cameo and would be most excited to see Ash appear in person (pretty sure that was her in the porno in ORS!). Your solution to the different outcomes for Jess by making it contextual to ORS decisions was elegant.
You know I would really love a remastered version of GGGB with your new graphics that you use for ORS I think that would be really cool and give people something to look forward to 😉 naturally ORS takes priority but with the story of GGGB done ✅ it's only a matter of making the new scenes which I know is one of the most time consuming parts but just an idea I think many people would enjoy
I got "good" Jessica and "bad" Jessica on different play throughs where I thought I made the same choices. I figured it was random, but now I'm questioning what I might have done differently.
I’m just now getting around to restarting since several early-game things were retooled with the latest update. Also wondering what I need to do to get the Jess of my choice, and whether it’s worth it if it means doing something differently
Seeing an Iris, Arthur or Ash’s Mom in the background would be cool but would mostly prefer the focus kept on ORS characters.
Not really, I want the stories not be tied, but I do not mind some cameos here and there.
what do you need to do to get bad Jess in ORS? I haven't played chapter six yet but that's the Jess I had in GGGB and the one I want to see
I can't wait to see Iris or Ash her self in the game though the model on Ian's computer when he decides to look up porn looks alot like Ash but no confirmation there

I prefer the two storylines are kept as separated as possible. A cameo or a couple of characters are OK, but ORS and GGGB "live" in different cities and cultural environments.
As fun as some cameos from GGGB might be, I do hope you make them just that - cameos. A wink to the audience before the focus comes back to the ORS cast. I’d hate to see the ORS crew living in the shadow cast by the GGGB crew. As to what cameos I want to see? Jasmin and/or Jack involved in this inter-gym fighting tournament you teased at Ian’s gym is something I’d like to see and seems likely. I’d want to see “washed up” Jack more of the two versions, trying to win the tournament for his small-time gym and grasp back onto that fame that he lost. Mike noted that he ended up DJing at the club in the first place because his uncle is one of the owners; he’s got a prominent lion tattoo with a crown on his arm; long shot, but maaaybe his uncle Enrico shows up at some point? Or maybe "gang" Eva who helps run the place?
Also, lease don't change things again to the point old saves don't work. It's too far along to have to start from the beginning now. It was hell having to do so for this one. I HATE when that happens. Ren'py is so fussy about it.
Sigh. Ends at an odd area again, like no warning. There really should be like a "this is the end of chapter 6. Please save now" screen. Other games have that.
Maybe put minor characters like Doug, Kevin or Jack's brother in ORS and have them have somewhat bigger roles than before. And I would also like to see the likes of Arthur in ORS, the game right now doesn't have that twisted/dark route that GGGB had. Or maybe Tyrone, right now only Jeremy fills the role of the black guy.
This is true I feel ORS is missing a dark route all together not really any depravity in ORS no Gang , Arthur or incest route like is in GGGB don't get me wrong I love ORS but I also thoroughly enjoyed the dark routes of GGGB and frankly I think 🤔 there is alot of that potential in ORS if explored and could add alot to the game especially for variety right now it feels it's only 3 routes, 1. Ian X Lena pure 2. Ian and Lena not together and being players 3. Ian X Lena but still being players I just don't feel the dark route like I did in GGGB especially with Arthur and/or the incest route don't get much darker then them two routes 😂 but was all enjoyable and loved the options

I do not know that ORS would need these cameos. However if there are some GGGB characters appearing I guess the minor ones would work best. Maybe Natsha or Dave, possibly Iris (I wouldn't mind seeing the fallen and depraved Iris). Though I suppose Ash could pop up either on Stalkfap or on a billboard depending.
I think it was done by who was most liked. Jessica was one of the most major characters in the game.
Apparently ORS takes place a couple years after GGGB. I got bad (and jaded) Jessica.
I've been wanting to comment on this subject ever since I first learned of it. Firstly, some GGGB characters were incredibly popular and I'm sure you wanted to tell more of their stories. And there is some demand for it too. So cameos make sense in some way. But I think it is a really ill advised action to base the state of these characters post-GGGB epilogue on something arbitrary that you do in ORS. For a player who is really attached to these characters, their history is more important than ORS's burgeoning story. I wouldn't want to close myself off of various storylines that Lena can I feel forced to do so because it inexplicably affects Jessica. And I imagine there will be something similar for other cameos (I guess Jack owns Ian's gym, or something). I would like to reiterate that you are really taking away from your current project if you are adding 'Evaverse' cameos this way. As engaging as GGGB was, this isn't the same game and most of the ORS characters don't quite stand on their own two legs yet, and it's weird that you would create conditions where players would want to invest less into ORS characters. This game would be better off if you either decide on a canon ending, not include direct cameos at all, or let players set a flag in menus for what GGGB endings they obtained.

If Ian takes Cherry home from Shine you get "good" Jess.
ORS is so addicting to replay I gotta make time to get the good version of Jessica I like seeing her happy and all the endings with either her or Dave or even Ashley were always my favorite.
Your drawing improve a lot. But isn't a lot more time consuming to add all this lightning effect on all character?
I've been pretty sure that if Iain had watched porn in Ch.1 or 2, he'd seen pormstar Ashley. Hadn't he though?

It would be cool if Tyrone or Iris made an appearance, that could also tie in with Lena’s and Ivy’s story arc, maybe Tyrone is writing a new song and needs new models, that would make for a nice scene!
I love the idea but really wish it was easier to make the choice without having to date specific people. I'd like Jessica to have the happy ending and be dating Allison.
I don't want to be that guy, but, considering that it's been only 3 days that the final version was released for the 5$ tier, maybe next time you could wait for a week before making a post about actual content of the update? I wasn't spoiled because I already played it since I'm on holidays, but usually I wouldn't have played during weekdays. As for other cameos... Maybe Natasha and/or Eva.
She was a great surprise when she appeared, so yeah, the more GGGB characters you can introduce the better!
Shrodinger's Jessica. Seriously though, it was a clever way to include her character while respecting the player's choice as well (and I like how Jess adapts to the way you're playing now). The rest of the cameos... I assume it has to be someone who is alive by the end of the game no matter what. Natasha maybe? Or Dave?
I believe Iris was runner-up in the Poll, so that is a strong possibility unless Ashley herself makes an appearance again, which I doubt unless it’s a smaller easter egg like last time.
