Character Design (Ian)

Having Ian as a playable main character beside Lena has been a bold choice, but one I had been wanting to make for some time. Dave and Jack, en even Eric were very interesting characters to write in GGGB, and I thought about a lot of scenarios and choice mechanics I could create if they were playable characters. I knew I didn't want to make the exact same game twice, so the idea of having a male main character (without rejecting the female lead, of course) really appealed to me.

Ian's appearance is somewhat similar to Dave's. I tried to create an average but charismatic guy the player could easily identify himself as. His personality also draws quite heavily from Dave and Eric, but more nuanced of course. I wanted a character who started in a not-so-good position but with the potential to evolve and get himself into exciting, fun and dangerous situations (that will be up to you!)

Having Ian as a main character not only allows me to show some situations from an alternate point of view (something I would've like to do with GGGB, seeing how the male characters reacted to Ashley's shenanigans), but also makes it possible for me as a writer and for the player to explore new scenarios: seducing girls, playing action scenes, cheating or being cheated on, and so on. It opens up so many possibilities and I'm having a lot of fun writing his character.

I know it's not the same formula as in GGGB, but it's what I really want to make and I'll do it as best as I can, like always. I hope you have fun playing him!

I´m curious where this is going, like what looks there can get out from the boring normalo.

I like that Ian is playable. I also like that Ashley is the MC of GGGB. There are a few games with female leads, which makes GGGB refreshing; but, I don't relate to her too much because I'm a dude. With Ian being one of the lead alongside Lena, ORS gives me someone to relate to at the same time keeps the refreshing quality of GGGB with Lena also being a lead. Can't wait for this game!!!

I liked him so far, although both Ian and Lena have similar situations, where they are both hugely affected by their last ex.

almost as if that's intentional, like they're foils for one another... lmao

This really opens up a lot of new possibilities. With the branching storylines I think you can make Ian somebody everyone can have fun with. :)

A recurring theme in adult games seems to be that the male protagonist is a generic, boring schmuck who manages to get laid simply by existing. Right now he really does give off Eric or Dave vibes (depending a bit on how you play him), but I hope that he can evolve into something more like the alpha male Jack-type. Male corruption stories happen basically... never? So that would be a refreshing change - WITHOUT the man being an old, ugly baboon. For a vanilla route he obviously needs to change and grow as a character as well, but I'm not really sure how without basically redoing Dave.

First, Ian was into martial arts... and by the end, he was drawing... One or the other would have been fine, but both similarities (not to mention overall look) to Dave really killed it.

I really like the structure of the new game. The last shot of Ian in 0.1 was too much like Dave, though. I'd also note that "makes it possible for me as a writer and for the player to explore new scenarios: seducing girls, playing action scenes, cheating or being cheated on, and so on" also applies to a female MC!

Yeah, it happens far to often that female leads have very passive roles. Let her come up with some decisions! The game design mindset "I want to be a stripper" for the character instead of "do you want to be a stripper?" gives agency to the player, instead of getting the feeling of following a roadmap of decisions until someone asks you if you want to do it.
