Changes! (charge up front)

Hey there! You may have noticed that Patreon changed! (I think the old logo was 100x times better, but oh well!). I had previously discussed with my early patron about implementing the "charge up front" feature, and everyone seemd to be ok with it, even encouraging me to do so, but it wasn't available to me. Well, now it is.

I'm planning to activate this feature and I want to let you know and ask if you guys are ok with it. What will change? Not much:

If you are pledging for the first time, or you edit your pledge, Patreon will charge you in the spot. After you have made your first pledge, Patreon will charge you for the following months at the beginning of each month, as is usual. So, if you are alredy supporting me, this won't affect you unless you want to upgrade your pledge.

If you guys are ok with this, I will implement it in the following 24 hours.

I can't thank you enough for your support and for the passiosn of those that always give me feedback and encourage me to keep working at this!

Kisses, Eva

Your work is too good to get ripped off Eva, so go for it. All the best game designers here do it, and you are one of them :)

Do it! It's the only way to guarantee you'll get what has been promised to you. :)

I don't like the charge up front function, but if you prefer it, it's your choice. Just make sure to mention it on the front page, because Patreon does a piss poor job at communicating it. Just recently I pledged to a project on 30th of the month and was basically charged twice - once for that single day, and a second time a day after for the next month. Don't need to mention that this left a bad taste in my mouth.

You have a point! I'll mention it in the front page so this doesn't happen

Indeed go for it

Good idea to charge upfront.

I think it's a great idea for both artists and patrons. It does away with the hassle of having income forecasts inflated by scammers, and having to manually check your processed pledges at the start of each month before sending out rewards. A waste of time that could otherwise be used to much better ends :) It also gives impatient patrons immediate access to the latest rewards their support level entitles them to. Also, it's the first time I see the new logo; it looks like Pong played in Mirror's Edge :)

I don't mind personally, but you should remember what I've warned you about that change: it's ONE WAY only and you also won't be able to change to 'Per Creation' if some day you decide to have a long rest from this. If you're really positive that you'll be working on your games regularly, then it should be ok.

Interesting restrictions, I wasn't aware of them. Do you think Patreon might implement a scheduled switch-over in future, perhaps if enough artists ask for it? Either way, I can't imagine it would be too much of a problem if an artist gave enough advance notice that they're going on a six-month walkabout :)

Yeah, go for it. Totally ok with me, this should have been the default for Patreon.
