Some of the faux noir dialogue was so bad. I get what they were going for but it comes across like a parody.

Curious Chief-of-security convincingly clears convicted Conn (ex-con) crewmember in criminal case combining canine clues + camera captured character-ceiling clearance contradiction.

It’s “A Matter of Perspective” with a killer/motive instead of an attempted murder/suicide. Shades of “Eye of the Beholder” with reliving someone’s death. Good episode.

It was okay. I still stand by my position that exploring active war zones while completely cut off from your own support network is a questionable command decision on Janeway's part, but I did like the Columbo-ness of Tuvok's investigation and the unique sentence these folks pass on convicted murderers. Solid C

Good episode. I give it like a B+. I enjoy Robert McNeill's tortured acting as he endures reliving the memory of the victim, and I enjoy Tuvok stepping into the role of detective as his first big episode. It's fun with the noir vibes, and memorable actually (I knew right away which episode this was before I rewatched it even though I hadn't seen it in years).

I'm giving it a 'B', But only because of Tuvok's nod to Columbo, which was intentional.
