How the hell did I watch this alone, in my room, in the dead of night, as a 15-year-old?…I do remember being incredibly sleepy, but not able to close my eyes, for some reason.
practically the same story here, but I was 17.
This role got Burt Reynolds the golden globe for best supporting actor. DiCaprio says turning down the role of Dirk Diggler is his biggest career regret. "she's got an ass in her cock" was actually a line flub by William Macy, but PT Anderson thought it was hilarious and left it in as it perfectly displayed the character's flustered state of mind.
If you love movies about the movies watch the Robert Altman’s The Player. Funny thing I’ve never seen a reaction of this by anyone on YT.
Most of the characters in Boogie Nights were amalgamations of real people in the porn industry in the late 70's/early 80's. So, sort of based on real people, but not completely.
