YOUTUBE - Masks | Star Trek Fans First Time Watching TNG

I don't quite get the widespread hatred of this one. To me it's one of the bright spots in an often weaker season 7. There are better episodes, but there are much, much worse.
As someone interested in ancient cultures, this episode is actually very interesting and not as stupid as it may seem.
I think the problem with 'Masks' is the restrictions of the physical production versus the nature and ambition of the script. I just find the episode too literal and 'flat', because of the production realities of that era of ST. This script needed the more cinematic style of current TV, which would have supported this type of story better. I'm not saying I would have liked the script any more, but the episode would have been more cohesive.
I couldn’t bring myself to watch the full uncut of this so I apologize if you heard the before but Josh nailed Brent Spiner as Joker which he voiced from 2010-2022 and the fact specifically during the final showdown with Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner they absolute did break many times laughing during the shot. Both of them nailed how much the actors did not enjoy performing the source material. I’m psyched you guys are doing Pluribus btw.
Even though this episode wasn't good, you'll get a much better appreciation of Brent Spiner as an actor knowing he had only one night to memorize all his lines for this episode. He is truly the GOAT of TNG.
I struggle with this one.
Oh boy, not this episode.......😐
Finally! 👺
