A lot of comparisons to The Village but I think the better comparison would be The Beach directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. But instead of Sisko and Alexis it’s Leonardo DeCaprio and Tilda Swinton! That’s a movie that’ll stay in your head for awhile!
Ah the episode where people are taken from their communist fantasy to a communist reality …. Jokes aside it’s a great episode
Really??? She tells Sisko he can only drink the glass of water AFTER he’s removed his uniform??? And he COMPLIES????? I’m a middle-aged man who’s not even a starship captain and I would have drank the glass of water slowly, locking eyes with her just to piss her off. I get what the writers were going for, but all they accomplished was to pussify Sisko’s character. I doubt Picard or Kirk would have allowed it.
I always remember watching this as a teenager and my dad saying it was ridiculous that Sisko would just voluntarily climb back into the box. He got what the writers were trying to say, but said it was so unbelievable that someone would climb into that hellbox for no good reason. Its not like the local community would be moved by it - they watched their own friends and fmily regularly getting roasted in it and thought it was an ok punishment. What did he expect to achieve other than prolonging his own suffering?
I hate cult stuff, would love to see that bitch Alixus in the mirror universe so Odo could give her a couple smacks
Ironically that wasn’t Bob Pinciotti, Donna’s father on that 70’s Show as played by Don Stark but he was in Melora as Ashrock (in full makeup).
I think Joseph's final speech was sincere and not the result of manipulation. The episode run time didn't allow anything more than an acknowledgement that these people felt a genuine connection to each other and had made a home there. A ST novel would be able to flesh out this story.
