A-tier episode for me. Good story, fun character developments on multiple fronts, all in all a great episode. I don't know why it doesnt hit me as an S, really sorry, i cant explain it for some reason.
Despite her Sherlock Holmes Man With the Twisted Lip level wrong I love Keiko in this one, it is very Star Trek and a fave of season 2
B. But could be B-/C+. Can Bashir Cure Barfing Chief O'Brien? Could CCTV Coffee Clue Bring Back Chatting Comrades Before Both Croak? Countdown Commences!
The issue with rating DS9 episodes is that we are watching the show basically de-evolve backwards in time. So a very solid S2 episode gets a high rating as you first watch the show. Viewed again in the context of the entire show....rating goes down. Season 2 is the show under construction. Background sound effects like drilling, hammering, sawing and electrical generators humming wouldn't feel inappropriate for S2 episodes. Grand opening is season 3 episode 1. Please forgive the inconvenience until we get there.
You're spot on. I consider this a good season 2 episode, but in the grand scheme of things and when taking the whole show into account, this episode pales. A good episode nonetheless.
