Alex doesnt like Kids or Dogs??? WTF?
The First Seasons eps are good there's a couple iffy ones but over all fantastic. I was always a MOTW guy because as much as I liked the overall mythology inmho they never thought it thru enough and alot of it didnt pay off
Holy shit. I didn't get the X-Files love. I saw episodes here and there back in the day and thought I understood it. But never caught this episode in syndication. Heck, even now I'm only watching this because I need something to put on in the background. But that ending. It comes out of no where. It's a payoff AND a promise. So I'm on board too. Time to catch up.
Trying to catch up... I forgot how good these early episodes are.
I was never an invested fan of X-Files but would sometimes watch it when it aired (Sunday nights @ 9pm) after The Simpsons. It was such a good show that you knew from the hook whether to keep watching the episode, I don't know why but I am SO invested in watching this with the Target Audience crew. I WANT to believe... that TA will continue the series. 👽
When my wife and I got new kittens back in the '90's, they were brother and sister, so we named them Mulder and Scully. Years later, when we had a daughter we named her Samantha, but not after Mulder's sister, it was just a coincidence.
I love the x files reactions. Please keep them up
So much greatness to come...looking forward to this
I'm definitely onboard for continuing X Files. Another reaction channel I used to follow got a few seasons in and then disappeared, so I'd love to see a full series reaction. Hopefully it doesn't end up in the season 1 graveyard. This one is mostly just OK for me, but it does give us some more insight into Mulder's motivations. I like that even though there's obvious reasons to question Mulder's objectivity, he crossed his Ts and dotted his Is well enough that they couldn't really refuse his request. Also it says a lot about his character that even though part of him clearly hopes solving this case will help him find his sister, he clearly is concerned first and foremost with finding Ruby. Even at the end, he could have left his number for her to call, leaving her someone to talk to about it who won't treat her like she's crazy, but he still respects the mom's request to let her put it behind her, even though it might have brought him one step closer to finding his sister. I think that makes the ending scene in the church even more powerful.
The channel disappeared? Sounds like an X-File
I’m here for every episode if you guys are.
I will be seeing them FOR THE FIRST TIME along with you guys.
Even though the lack of dialog at the beginning of the episodes makes syncing a bitch LOL
Keep going!!!! and buckle up. I will say no more.
I do hope you all continue, it is great reliving this series. This episode has that great tag line in the end, and just when you think he is not going to answer because of the credit you, hear " I want to Believe"
ST TOS had huge swings in quality of scripts, TNG/DS9 less so but some stinkers episodes still. The writing on this show has a high-bar, if rating the episodes, I would expect mostly ranks S to B with the extremely rare C or D. I wouldn't expect any E's.
I love that you guys are loving this show! I knew you would if you dove into it. It's one of my all time favorite shows. This and Star Trek in the 90's were just killing it
If your X-files reactions have a hundred viewers then I am one of them. If these reactions have ten viewers, I am one of them. If these reactions have only one viewer than that is me. If these reactions have zero viewers, that means I died.
LOLOL!
Fun fact. FOX initially rejected Gillian Anderson as Scully. They wanted an actress who had a more "eye candy" quality. Chris Carter stood his ground and the network relented to the total success of the X-Files.🙂
Another Scully fun fact is they based her look off of Jodie Foster's Clarice in Silence of the Lambs, which is most obvious in the first season and ESPECIALLY the first episode. As time passes, Scully's look becomes her own.
I am SOOOOO here for this! I subscribed to the Patreon for the Star Trek so X-files would be a huge cherry on top! I watched X-files as it aired back in the day and it's been so long that I don't remember that many details from the episodes so these 4 episodes have been like watching it for the first time. So much fun! PLEASE keep going guys!!!
Another fun episode
One of the best things about jumping into the X-Files is that it really comes out of the gate knowing what it is and what it wants to do. It's like hitting the ground at a TNG S3 level. There's no awkward phase to chew through first, even if Season One feels "quaint" by later standards. Even the lesser episodes make for pretty solid well-made genre TV. But the vibe of the whole show is just so solid from the get-go, and the chemistry between Duchovny and Gillian Anderson is fucking crackling from the minute one, they just play off each other so well. Can't wait to watch a whole season's worth of Mulder and Scully screaming each other's names in shadowy places with you guys. It's the best show ever.
Dudes, I had to upgrade a level because I COULDN'T wait to watch you guys watch these guys... A trickle of 'LORE' for ya, in a solid episode with a great ending.
Once again, I'm here and I'll continue to be here. If you guys love these episodes....wow you're in for a ride.
You've seen the sheriff before, in TNG's Tin Man, as Captain DeSoto, Riker's old CO.
That ending though, chills!
You have to love that core of steel that moves through the center of Fox Mulders being, Come with me or don’t come with me. I’m not giving up on this girl until I either find her body or find her as I paraphrase it. His sense of clarity in duty is not limited by ideas of reality versus imagination. It’s simply the fact is the girl is missing and it’s my job to find her if it aligns with other interests I have so be but I will do the job.
I forgot how hard these early episodes leaned into the human element, showing how much all this crazy crap would affect people in various ways. The writers having that restraint to pause and reflect (and not just being like "WOAAHHH SCI-FI PLOT OF THE WEEK!") is what really elevates this series.
I actually forgot that too. Season 1 especially focused on small town folks caught in the crossfire.
The "mid" episodes are coming, but stick with it! The overall payoff is well worth the occasional dud.
You think? I actually love the upcoming episodes! A few are iconic. I can't get into more detail than that lol
These things that the boy saw made me think of the Voyager probes carrying a Voyager Golden Record which sounds, music, different languages,… and BTW, hell yeah!
Since the X-Files and all the Star Trek series ran in parallel to each other on their first run. Your going to see actors from both series crossing over a lot. The bartender who played the biker bartender, Donald Gibb never was on Star Trek. However he did play Oger in the In Revenge Of The Nerds. Also did a bunch of Budwiser Comercials.
I remember seeing him in a lot of guest appearances during this time. What I remember him from best was Bloodsport
Carrie Snodgrass (Darlene Morris) resembles Margot Kidder to me, too. I mainly remember her from the Clint Eastwood western Pale Rider.
Oh BTW whats funny is its great you guys loved these episodes.....BUT GUESS WHAT....these aren't the bangers....there are some fantastic great episodes....and you're not even there yet
There's a HUGE run of fantastic episodes coming up. :)
Making a prediction...based on the views on YouTube...X-Files will be done to completion ala Star Trek...X-Files was seriously a HUGE cult following in the 90s....hmmm star trek had a huge cult following....the views and likes are there to be had
YES!! I was hoping this would get posted today!
