One More Bite
The lord sat at the long end of the table. Before him lay a banquet feast, all for him.
His guests were long gone. They had grown hungrier as he grew fatter. Expecting scraps from his plates, they had been dearly disappointed.
His servants were gone as well. Finally, an end to the feast was in sight. No new dishes, no more drinks. Only thick gravy to quench his thirst.
The lord ate on.
He no longer tasted the difference between sweet and savory. It wasn't about the food itself.
He had a need. A yearning for more. Always more.
