Sew Expensive: Vogue Paris Original 1073
If you've read my blog regularly, then you have an idea of how rare and desirable some sewing patterns and books can be.
Experienced collectors and pattern sellers will tell you that a Vogue Paris Original sewing pattern from before the 1970s can sell for quite a bit of money. An evening gown pattern will always sell for quite a bit more than most other designer patterns.
But an evening gown pattern from Vogue's Paris Original line designed in the 1950s by Lanvin? That is the rare pattern trifecta!
Today's pattern is no exception to the rule. The artwork is beautiful, the pattern design is flattering, and these were manufactured in very limited numbers so we know it is exceptionally rare.
And so, this incredible Lanvin Vogue Paris Original pattern no. 1073 sold a few days ago for a jaw-dropping $1118!
From the envelope back: "Princesse evening dress with very short train. Bare shoulders and back. Shaped fullness below knee provides flare. Front buttons from V-neckline to opening at centre-front of skirt section."
Did I want it? Oh so badly.
Did I buy it? Sadly no.
Is it worth the $1118 U.S. dollars the buyer paid for it?
HELL YES.
What say you?

Oh my goodness this is absolutely gorgeous
Might do better than the stock market if I had a few of these. Lovely pattern and lucky somebody.
I need to catalog my gigantic bin of vintage patterns! Maybe I have something more valuable than usual!
