GR86 V3.0
FOR ALL REAL CAR ENTHUSIASTS
We’ve conducted a comprehensive review of the physics data.
The reason we undertook this task is related to the significant upgrade of our cockpit setup.
The main factor was the switch to direct drive. The model we’re using is the “SIMUCUBE 2 SPORT.”
By using “SIMUCUBE TUNER” to fine-tune the direct-drive settings, I was able to grasp sensations that I hadn’t been able to perceive before.
As a result, the discrepancies with the real car became much clearer, and the issues were brought to light.
Below, I’ll outline the changes I made.
Measurement of Dynamic Alignment
My mod replaces the rear suspension configuration from a multi-link setup to a double-wishbone setup.
As a result, the alignment settings differ from those of the actual car. This is because the “COSMIC Suspension” system, which is capable of replicating the multi-link setup, is extremely complex; I tried implementing it several times, but I couldn’t achieve the handling feel I was looking for.
So I came up with a different approach: rather than focusing on the accuracy of the suspension structure, I decided to recreate the dynamic alignment to make the model more realistic.
To do this, I set up a 3D scanner and used an actual GR86 to measure alignment values at 10 mm intervals throughout the suspension stroke.
Within Assetto Corsa, I created a dedicated alignment display app and used it to measure and compare values at the same 10 mm intervals.
The resulting graph is shown below.
The pink line shows the dynamic alignment measured from the actual car, and the blue line shows the values from V2.0MOD.
You can see that they were quite off.
Finally, the green line represents the current V3.0. While the TRACK adjustment isn’t perfect, the other alignment settings are now almost identical to those of the actual car.
As a result, the way the rear traction engages has changed significantly, resulting in a much more forgiving handling characteristic, just like the actual car.
Replicating the Torsen LSD
The production GR86 is equipped with a “Torsen LSD Type B.” This is a torque-sensing differential that uses helical gears.
As a result, when the accelerator is not depressed, the initial torque is close to zero, and the differential lock engages when the accelerator is pressed.
Additionally, if traction is lost on a single wheel—for example, when hitting a curb—the differential lock does not engage, and the differential operates as an open differential.
In V2.0, we attempted to reproduce the behavior by lowering the initial torque, but the response was slow and the system was not engaging effectively until the differential lock kicked in.
So, using a new external script, I tried to recreate behavior that closely matches the real car.
It seems to have worked well—the differential clearly locks when I press the accelerator, causing the car to move forward and delivering a driving feel just like the real thing.
I was also able to replicate the weaknesses of the “Torsen LSD Type B,” making it possible to highlight the differences between it and a “mechanical LSD.”
I’d like to thank “Monchan Pien” for creating this script.
ABS Optimization
We’ve received a lot of feedback regarding brake performance for some time now.
I was aware of this issue, but I was struggling to find a solution that balanced well with the tire models.
So, with the new CSP ABS script, I’ve switched to a system that adjusts the brake balance independently for each of the four wheels.
I think it’s working out well.
Revising the Physical Data for Tires
These tires were developed for V2.0, but we encountered issues with heat and traction when the tires started to slip.
We conducted tests in conjunction with other major updates, and I think we’ve reached a compromise.
The Birth of a New Base MOD and Upcoming Content
Now that the base MOD has been enhanced, the accuracy of the tuning models will also be put to the test.
VERUS is back for the first time in about three years! We’ve incorporated new aero parts.
In addition, the CUP models and GR aero parts will also be upgraded to V3.0.
Thank you for your continued support!
Enjoy your simulation experience!

There was a configuration error causing the wipers not to work, so we've fixed it. Please download it again.
great job once again! one of the most realistic street cars in assetto corsa, im around 3 seconds faster everywhere with the new abs system compared to v2.0. hope to see a lightweight gr86 tune similar to the 2022 brz sti-r mod in v3.0 physics :)
CSPv0.2.12preview版ですがウインカー類も問題なく動作しました。
i'd just like to thank you for the amount of work and dedication you've put into the model. been a fan since the start and i can't express how much appreciation i have for the GR86 of yours. the extent of detail is simply amazing!
Thank you very much. Although the script has become more complex and the development period has been extended, I believe it’s evolving in a positive direction. Please look forward to the tuning model as well!
SPEC!
I just loved what I read here, having both the physics knowledge and access to the real thing and the time/patience/passion to do this is amazing. I have limited modding knowledge and run a largeish ac racing community. I'd like to leave a few suggestions: 1) LHD for sure, I have no problem driving RHD cars, but half the world would prefer it so in their name, please and thank you. 2) Give the CUP car some love, this deserves a skinpack for example, I might be able to help, lot's of people here are decent skinners. I'd also suggest you to prepare the model to support the CM/CSP skinning tools for just being able to add easy variations on a template. So anyone can do a basic personalized skin with a few clicks. 3) The CUP would absolutely be my priority for running on leagues, but why not expanding the linup with a fictional GT4 using the Verus and the gt4 regulations and real parts to get there (if the alpine gets there, so can this car) Send me a PM, Maybe we can co-organize a Japanese GR86 Cup champ or something, we haven't been to (Virtual) Japan in a while. Timezones would suck though. :D
Incredible work! Is there any possibility of including a LHD version in a future release?
Since it's true that it's only available in older versions, I'll make sure to create it using V3!
What about your other GR86 tuner variants - will they receive the same update to physics as this version ?
If you have any requests regarding past tuning projects, we’ll recreate them based on V3.
