Hi Everyone!
Introducing my new Opossum design! If you've been in the MMM Discord server for long you'll know that loveably quirky Opossum has been highly requested for quite a while, haha. Well, the time is now! This fella has an articulated jaw so you can pose the mouth in different closed-to-open positions!
Here's a quick demo video of the assembly.
I hope you like it!
Matt
Pictured models printed in...
Multicolor print: CookieCad Grey Ombre, Eryone Red Wax,
Polymaker Matte Cotton White***, Ziro Matte Black***

so i am wondering when it says pre-supported does that mean i don't have to turn supports on in the slicer or do i still need to turn it on? I am using a Anycubic Kobra X
I finally did this one and love it. The jaw opening is amazing. Love your work.
could you possibly provide an alternate head that doesn't open? Using multi color on just the current head, the ams uses more material than most of my other full size articulated prints
How long is the opossum at 100%? Thanks!
Tip to tail is about 11.5"
omg you did it!! Thank you, Matt!!!! Now a raccoon and my life will be complete!! I love this one so much!!
Can someone help me with Flushing Volume on these. I made two at the same time and they are absolutely adorable but the Black ran into the white and Pink... I had it set at 1. but that didn't work. BTW they went together perfectly. My daughter loves them... She doesnt know about the color lol
Did you flush into infill? I believe I did it at .65 (making sure to click the calculate button) and have had absolutely no bleeds, but I have on previous models mistaken a flush into infill for a flushing volume bleed. I use PLA with a mix of basic and matte colours if that helps.
Finally got the full multi colour to print, wasn't model error, all printer problems. Only issue we have is the same as another comment - the head is much tighter than the likes of the ferret, it does go in, but it's a struggle and I'm not convinced i'd be able to do it myself, thinking printing it 1% smaller might help. Jaw works flawlessly. No issues with adherence to the plate other than a foot, but that's a me issue again. Matt, I'm wondering if you'd possibly make a stumpy tail for it? We don't have Opossums in England, but we do have Badgers and these with a shorter tail would look just about right. If you'd be okay with me doing it myself then please let me know as i'd just take out the 7 middle joins and have the connector and the end. The other thing is the texture of the tail doesn't come through, it was on an upgraded P1P with a .2 layer height, matte filament. The scalyness is there, if you look very very closely but I feel like it could be a bit more pronounced? Thanks for the absolutely unique model though. It does look fantastic. The jaw idea is a win with our 18 month old who enjoys having it "bite" his finger.
Just printed this last night, and absolutely love it. The jaw was a little tight at first but has loosened up with play. Had the same issue with the neck segment. Probably just a printer calibration issue honestly
I absolutely love it. Im gonna be printing out a few for my friends. Here are some suggestions to help print in Multi Color for anyone that plans to print it. 1. Change the color of the support on the lower jaw to pink to give the lower jaw more surface area for the pink part. 2. If your using a Bambu printer, use some pink disks on the lower jaw. This removes the gap for the pink part and makes the lower jaw stick better. Id often have a bit of curling on the grey as it prints which caused it to add pressure to the pink which caused it to pop free. Removing the gap helps reinforce that and leads to minor cleaning at the end. 3. Add a pink disk to each paw. Just big enough to reach each corner of where the pink paw is on the build plate to prevent a tiny bit of curling. Not critical though. 4. Similar for the ears. While the black surface area on the ears is big, the pink is not. If pink has trouble grabbing the black, which it often does, it can actually come free and cause the ear to fail. Adding pink disks there increases the surface area. Most other issues can be solved with a brim but may not be necessary. Once again, a very amazing model and print.
I seem to be having trouble with the lower jaw - it's cracking near the joint, in the same place each time I pop it in. I'm going to sand down the balls on this next one to slip it in without stressing it, but had hoped to not make it too loose. Am I the only one seeing this?
Oh, that might be a symptom of too high of a flow rate, but it’s hard to know for sure. If you want to email me more details (and pics), I can help try to troubleshoot it with you. help@matmiremakes.com
Perfect!!!!!
I love it!!!
Maybe a cute squirrel, chipmunk, or elephant in our future. 😀
I am running into this problem on my Kobra Max (i just got it for xmas) but both the whites tree frog and this opossum- I cannot get the heads to snap on. I know it has to be user error with a new machine, but I did 15% infill. Any tips? I never had issues on my old printer. Thanks!
I gently filed. then filed some more. And cussed a few times, then got the xacto knife. And now the opossum has a head!
Absolutely love the file though it seems a little sacrilegious that you can’t hang the opossum by the tail. Any chance we can get a second option with a hooked tail?
I wanna second a hooked tail if it's possible. That would be so much to display at shows.
Love him, printed last night and he came out perfect!
Amazing!!! This is adorable! I have two living in our backyard who enjoy the food I put out for some feral cats. 😊
cute!
This is lovely! What a charming smile! Any chance you'd consider a rat in the future? We think fancy rats would be a hit, as lots of people keep them as pets!
This is great! Will it scale down to 50 you think?
It's possible, but I haven't tried this one that small. When scaling down that small, it will depend greatly on your printer calibration, etc.
Love it! Can't wait to get it on the printers
So cute! What color was used for the nose and inside of mouth?
That's Eryone's matte Red Wax. I posted a link above in the post, but it appears to be out of stock.
Awe shit yeah
Love it!
HELLO FRIEND!!!
Omg I love that opossum ! 😍 I have one in my front yard that showing up recently 😊 I wish I would have a printer to print it in actual colours 😅 Can we do a racoon or/and fox in similar style in the next designs? 🥹
WoW j’adore!!
incredible as always!
haha! Love this, opossums are great! Can we please get a raccoon one day? They're sort of an unofficial mascot in my city
there are articulated raccoons already. but not from this maker. mcgybeer has one
YES!!!! Thank you!
It's so cute, I love it!
It's looks so happy. I scared 1 at night one time and it did not look so happy. 😆
Yay! We've had multiples playing in our yard all year so I'm excited to make some house safe versions LOL
Love this, but from the other side of the pond, we'd love to see something like a European Badger :)
Omg!!!
This is amazing. Bravo, friend
I'm so doing one of these when I get home. Or 2.
I've done 4 100% colored, 2 100% single filament, and 4 70% single filaments now. And I love em.
How about a skunk or racoon next!
