Hey Everyone!!
For a Halloween release this year, I thought it would be fun to take on a stone Gargoyle! Its a little different than my typical animal designs, and was so much fun to explore. I really enjoyed adding all the cracked and chipped stone details. Gargoyles (or Grotesques) were added to medieval buildings to ward off bad spirits. Sounds like a great spooky season companion to me!
Check out a quick Demo Video!
I hope you like it!
Matt

3D PRINTING SETTINGS:
Body: Print in place
Head: Snap-fit to Body using Connector Head. There is a small custom brim around the head to help with adhesion. Remove and discard it after printing
Arms Lf & Rt: Snap-fit to Body.
Wings Lf & Rt: Snap-fit to Body.
Connector Head: Use to connect the heads to the Body.
Multicolor 3MFs: This includes a simple 3MF to paint the eyes Red, but also functions as an easy way to load all of the print parts on one plate.
If you don’t want the colored eyes:
Select the head > Select the Color Painting tool > click “Erase all Painting”
(for Orca based slicers… it's often better to use File>Import rather than Open Project, so that it doesn't import any printer specific presets/settings.)Tool_ConnectorHelper: Simple tool to aid in inserting connector pins (see video)
No supports
10%-15% Infill (I recommend Gyroid, Crosshatch or 3D Honeycomb)
3 Walls. (Assuming 0.4mm nozzle. Adjust wall count to account for alternate nozzle sizes)
This should generally scale down to about 75% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. Your mileage may vary.

I'm going to make this as big as possible
currently working on a 320% scale version. it will be a beast!
Oh wow! That'll be awesome!
I am absolutely BONKERS for gargoyles! Signed up just for this new friend. 💜
These print like a dream! 8 hours on the Snapmaker U1 with colored eyes. Another excellent work of art. Thank you.
Love this. I've printed 4 with neon green eyes and just figured out the back legs move also.
You know what is a flex, seeing the gargoyle and sayin i need him, then realizing you already subscribe and it is basically fee.
Oooooooh my God. My wife is gonna go nuts for this!!
I’ve printed two in Lovoon glitter blue with red silk eyes and wow!!
Is anyone else having durability issues specifically with it's left arm? As in the left of its own or right when we are looking at it face-to-face? I've printed off four separate arms and had four separate failures but no issues with the opposite arm
Aside from the surface detailing, the left and right arms are both identical, so I can’t think of any reason for that. Make sure you’re printing them with 3 walls.
This is awesome man! Your designs skill are so good love to see you venturing outside of animals!
This is so cool!
So cool!!!!
This is awesome. I think I’m going to print one for myself in ASA to put out in the garden or by a birdhouse.
I love this!
Thank you for this design. I can't wait to print this for the Ren Faire
Hi Mat, this guy is super cool, great work once again! Perfect timing too, we have a ren faire coming up and I want two of these to flank our booth (oversized). Without cutting it up, I was able to get it to 240% on a 270mm3 build volume. We could probably get quite a bit more if the tail wasn't in the way on the body plate (the other parts are ok)... For V2, I would strongly suggest making the tail a separate "plug in" part as well, that would help a lot of folks that want to scale this up to a ridiculous size. Just a suggestion :-) Mac
I ran into a similar problem trying to shrink them and maximize build volume. If the tail were a separate 'plug in' piece, I could fit another one or two models on the plate.
This is incredible! Thank you!
So awesome
That is awesome!
I’ve recently come back to printing after almost two years off. I kept my patreon active this entire time because I love your stuff. This one kinda surprised me because it seems a bit different than what I remember but honestly I really like it! Very nice ♥️
Hopefully get some more Halloween stuff and holiday stuff soon....hint hint to prep for stuff
Well now I HAVE to buy more filaments...darn...
I love it.
