UPDATED: After getting feedback from a few people that had some difficulty inserting the Connector pins, I went through the model and adjusted the tolerances and strength. Additionally, I designed a simple tool I'm calling the "ConnectorHelper". It can be used to add a bit more leverage and a larger pressing surface when inserting the pins. I made a new Assembly Demo Video to show how to use that tool. These updates should hopefully make it much easier for everyone to assemble. Re-Download v02 to get this update. Cheers!
Hi Everyone!!
Introducing my new Squirrel design!! Getting a bit of a head start on the Holiday season, this one comes with an alternate head wearing a Santa Hat!
I'm trying something a little different with this design, utilizing more of the Connector joints, for added posing options and more flexibility in the design stage. As a result, this one has a bit more snap-fit assembly required when compared to my other designs, but I think it's worth it for the added benefits. Here's a Demo Video that shows the assembly!
I hope you like it!
Matt

How do I get the updated version of the squirrel without buying it
You can redownload it from your monthly MMF shared access. Check your MMF Library > Shared With Me
Did I miss the window of opportunity to download the updated file on the squirrel without purchasing it? I downloaded it when it originally came out but somehow missed the fact there was an update.
You can redownload the latest version from your MyMiniFactory shared file archive.
I LOVE THE SQUIRREL!!!! wish you had a different head for the red squirrel with tuffed ears.
The updated files work so much better! Thank you so much, Matt!
I had to print this2 for my mom right away, she loved it
Love all the designs. I have had so many requests for a horse. That would sell very well in my area if you are still looking for design ideas lol
do you have a horse to print
Love the pin tool! Helped a bunch. I did have to reduce connector pins by 1%. Parts are "snapping" together much better now. Thank you!
I just printed the updated squirrel file. The tool helped out a lot & it was easier to assemble. But I still had connectors break & the arm joint split again. I originally posted in the chat, but I can do longer find the chat. Was I kicked out? I’m bummed this squirrel file isn’t working out, it’s super cute.
Hi! I’m not sure what you mean by the chat, do you mean the discord server? I don’t think I saw you post there. I don’t have a patreon chat, so I’m not sure. Anyhoo, if you can email me some pics of the issue you’re having, that would be the most helpful. Along with details about what printer, filament, slicer settings, etc that you are using. help@matmiremakes.com
a fox would be awesome with a santa hat
I hate to add to all these requests but I would LOVE a mini squirrel and it is one of my top requested items at my table. People love your stuff Mat. Thank you so mich!
starting mine right now. any plans to do xmas themed shells for the snail?
That is a great idea and would work for Valentine's Day 🐌 ❣️
Thank you for the update & tool! Printing now. New challenge for you. Design removable Santa hat(squirrel ears poke thru). Opens up all kinds of hats to swap for squirrel-July 4th, birthday, New Years...
Love this model, I have completed 100% and 80% scale. They are going to be a hit this holidays season !!! Great job Matt. 🙌🙌🙌
This is adorable love all ur designs and the amazing detail in each one. Can I toss an idea in the hat? What about a Snow Leopard w a long fluffy tail that could print the same way the tiger is sitting . I want one so bad to make it look like the popular pet in World of Warcraft Loque’ Nahak. Hands down urs would be the best.
I second this. the snow leopard is my second favorite big cat. cheetah being first if ya feel like doing one of those too lol.
Best squirrel design out there! Know you went to a lot of effort for this one! Thank you! Unfortunately I do have an issue, those connector pins. I am not a fan of pins, of any pins. There is always a problem with them, one way or another. Too tight, too loose, break, have to scale, etc. Your snap fits are so much better IMHO. I never have an issue, very easy to put together, nicer fit & just as much movement, if not more. I've been a member for 2.5 years & this is the first time I can remember having a big issue. Love your work, just a peeve I have about pins.
Echo this! :) <3
my husband is going to HATE ME. LOL. I struggled with the snail shells (still have one without a shell). My hands hurt so much trying to push these into place - so I go to him for dexterity strength
use flat nylon pliers to push connector pins into body. Then snap on legs. Makes it much easier :-)
Dang, I was literally gonna suggest you doing a flying squirrel the other day and just saw you did a regular one. Cant wait to get back home from the country to print.
I had to look up what a flying squirrel was lol they’re extremely similar to our Sugar Gliders here in Australia. They have common ancestors
Did my print and it’s very cute but super hard/tough to put everything together. Eventually managed it but hands are still hurt. Would be even better with less assembly efforts needed. Thank you, Matt!
I REALLLYYYYY hope we get a mini version of this with a fluffy tail like that
I think there might be two small artifacts in the bottom of the body, I got the same result with 2 different prints, resliced after the first.
Hmm, interesting. I'm not seeing anything. Can you send me pics of what you are seeing? help@matmiremakes.com
Some little acorns would be so cute!!
This is awesome!! Can you please consider an elephant in the future!! So many people ask for them and your products are the most flexible and realistic!!
I second this ask.
Es hermosísima!!! Como siempre, nos sorprendes con cada modelo. Gracias!!! Aunque en mi país no tenemos ardillas, las encuentro muy simpáticas y tan ágiles, siempre brincando. Y el detalle del gorro es genial.
Requesting Coati please!
I just looked them up and they’re soo cute! I’ve never heard of them before.. we don’t have them in Australia
YAAAAY FINALLY
Just got done printing. I had the ball joint break off of the leg and hand when I was assembling. I did print at 2 walls. I am now reprinting the joints, arms and legs at 3 walls to see if that fixes my issue.
I had the same issue with 3 walls & the forearm slit as well.
Love the models with separate parts and connectors. So much more opportunity to get creative with colour without insane amounts of colour changes and waste.
Love this design!! The added Santa hat is great...
Squirrel! He’s amazing!
Any acorns or accessories?
Omg amazing! Thank you
Love it, but man the hands are huge!
Simply Amazing!!
Do you think it's possible to make a simplified version with less connectors or just use less connectors in the future? It's usually really hard for me to assemble things with connectors but I am going to try it out. I think this is really cute though, hopefully I can manage.
If the connectors are tight for you, try scaling them down to 98% or 99%, or put a tiny spot of any kind of lubricant on the ends.
Omg I love the little Santa hat 🐿️
Love it been waiting for you to solve our squirrel dilemma. There is another designer that does one but it’s just not that good. Matt to the rescue 😉
Love this!!
Ooooo I love it so much! Thank you for this!
Bellaaaa
