Hi Everyone!!
Introducing my new Snail & Slug design with Halloween Skull and Pumpkin accessories! I wanted to create something that would work well on it's own, as well as fitting a Halloween theme. So, I came up with a Snail that includes the option of swapping out the Shell for a Skull or Pumpkin!
With this design I also came up with some new joints. The head and shells snap-fit to the body via a new Connector piece. These provide a very durable connection and a bit more versatility in movement and printability. Here's a Demo Video that shows how the assembly works!
I hope you like it!
Matt
Pictured Prints use the following filaments***
(reference the numbered prints in last image of the gallery)
1) Amolen Thermal green/yellow (discontinued) (This one looks similar, though I have never used it), Inland Bone White, Charcoal Black, Cotton White
Shell: Amolen Marble Rainbow, Amolen Fossil. Skull: Inland Bone White
2) Ziro Matcha, Ziro Camouflage, Charcoal Black, Cotton White
Pumpkin: Amolen Red Cedar, Ziro Camouflage
3) Polymaker Starlight Meteor, Paramount Iron Red, Charcoal Black, Cotton White,
Skull: BambuLab Matte Bone White
4) Ziro Harvest Bliss - Shell/Skull: Ziro Dreamy Dusk
5) Ziro Autumn, Ziro Spring, Charcoal Black, Cotton White
Shell: Amolen Red Limestone, Amolen Marble Rainbow

3D PRINTING SETTINGS:
Snail Body: Has a socket in the back for adding Shell accessories.
Slug Body: Has no back socket
Head: Snap-fit to Snail/Slug Body using Connector. There is a small custom brim around the head to help with adhesion. Remove and discard it after printing
Snail accessories: Shell, Skull, Pumpkin. Snap-fit to Snail using Connector
EyesTentacles: Snap-Fit to Head. Clip opening should be oriented facing head.
Connector: Use to connect the head and shell accessories to the body.
Multicolor 3MFs: (Compatible with PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Orca based slicers)
No supports
10%-15% Infill (I recommend Gyroid, Crosshatch or 3D Honeycomb)
3 Walls. (Assuming 0.4mm nozzle. Adjust wall count to account for alternate nozzle sizes)
When printing with gradient filaments you might consider printing the head after the body. If done that way, the gradient will continue smoothly from the body into the head.
This should generally scale down to about 65% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. Your mileage may vary.

How about an Easter egg shell, please.
Would love to see a Santa hat Shell for snail
i would love to recommend/see different shells for more holidays like Christmas or thanksgiving as well , something like a cooked turkey, cornucopia or pie shell or maybe even a xmas hat lol
or more like the marble rainbow, which is what the rd limestone used to look like before they began messing with the names and changing things around. The first two times I ordered the rainbow rock, which is now called marble rainbow, they sent me red limestone. I ended up with 4 spools of the red limestone and then one spool of the rainbow rock. I can't tell the difference other than the label. Now the red limestone has more yellow and is a lighter color all around.
The recommended color to replace the Thermal color that has been discontinued looks very much like the Amolen red limestone when printed. I will be on the lookout for a better match as I love the look of that particular snail...
I probably missed this somewhere. I apologize if I did. What % can we down size this too?

Probs my favourite one yet!
Any Plans on A walrus?
I am obsessed and have my own snail army!!! I absolutely love all of the hard work and details that you put into each of your pieces.
Is there any way you could do a version with magnets in each part of the snail??? My son loves the magnet toys Thank you
When i printed the pieces the hole in the snail head is too big for the connector i didn't size it up at all. not sure how to fix that
I thought the same when I printed them but I just pushed them together and it clicked into place. The hole gets small lower down.
We need a zombie version for Halloween!
I STILL CAN'T GET THESE!

Can you make a skull with a pumpkin mask??
More!! Love this!
WOW! Now that's extra cool!!
Can the shell, skull, and pumpkin be pulled off and interchangeable or are they made to snap in once?
Yup! You can swap them out. You can see me do it in the demo video linked in this post.
Sent you a PM Matt
This print is great! Please think about making some other Holiday shells to go along with it. Thanks
I love how in each model you manage to bring us new articulations.
How does the shell attach to the snail?
There’s a clip that goes into the back. There’s a video in the post above that shows how it works. Note, make sure to use the Snail body not the slug. The Slug body does not have the socket to clip a shell into.
Hmm I need to try putting magnets on it :)
Can't wait to print this guy!
I squealed so loud both my children came running down stairs to check on me. I'm so stoked for this
Hahaha! That’s awesome 😂
chameleon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CROCODILE AND ALLIGATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mini flapjack octopus!!!!!!!!!
lion!!!!!
bass!!!!!!
It looks so real!!! Wow!!!
OMG this snail is sooo cool 🐌💖 Love the size!! Any chance for a giant African snail shell too? Fans would go crazy 🙌✨"
I'm going to be honest, the model is very cute but I'm not a very big fan of the natural colors. Most likely because I have a weak stomach, I love it in the more colorful filaments! I guess maybe the natural colors are a bit too squirmy or creepy crawly for me lol I don't know 🤷🐌❤️
Excellent! Very hermit crab type vibes.
Do you have any recommendations for filaments that are similar to #1? 😭
This one looks similar, though I've never used it. https://amzn.to/45HyxLM
Are you kidding me. This is absolutely amazing!
Amazing work! My kids are going to go nuts when they see it.
OMG I love him!
Of course you know which accessories my favorite 💀🖤🤘
I wondered what you’d think of it. Hahaha
I love him 🥹 I can't belive the filament for #1 is discontinued! It is perfection😭
I know! It’s been discontinued for a few years. I have one spool that I pull out for just the right models. 😭
O this is fantastic!! I love snails, but don't care for the typical chibi style people usually release. This is amazing. Fantastic design!
I was JUST going to request a banana slug! Can the slug print solo without anything on its back?
Yup! There’s a “Slug” body with no shell attachment socket.
Adorable!
Sooo he’s adorable and we love him. 😻
