Hi Everyone!
Introducing my new River Otter design!
It's super-flexible and fully print-in-place, and features a pop-in mechanism in the neck segment that allows it to hold it's head up when in a standing pose (similar to the platypus head joint). Here's a quick demo video of how it works!
I hope you like it!
Matt
Pictured Prints use the following filaments***
Brown Multicolor: Overture Chocolate, Overture Brown, iSANMATE HS Coffee, Polymaker Cotton White
Rainbow Multicolor: Ziro Rainbow Blaze, Ziro Morandi, iSANMATE Red/Blue, Polymaker Cotton White
Single color 1: Ziro Beach
Single color 2: Cookiecad Mermaid

3D PRINTING SETTINGS:
River Otter: 100% Print-in-Place. No supports needed. There is a small custom brim around the head to help with adhesion. Remove and discard it after printing
Multicolor 3MF (Compatible with PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio)
10%-15% Infill (I recommend Gyroid, Crosshatch or 3D Honeycomb)
3 Walls. (Assuming 0.4mm nozzle. Adjust wall count to account for alternate
nozzle sizes)
Features a pop-in mechanism in the neck segment that allows it to hold it's head up when in a standing pose. Here's a quick demo video of how it works!
This should generally scale down to about 60% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. Your mileage may vary.

I can't seem to print the otter :( I've tried different plates, orientations, but no matter what I seem to do, I can't get past the first layer. Either half the legs on onside doesn't print until the second layer (if I can get that far), otherwise the filament starts collecting at the nozzlehead. I am new to 3D printing (started in October). I'm printing on a P1S, which has printed the badger, pig, and cow just fine. I had floating parts issues with the platypus but I've had 2/2 print just fine.
I took a look at the model and there were some very slight height differences in some of the pieces, but they should be well within the ranges to print all parts in layer 1. Regardless, I did upload a new v02 with all the parts flushed to the bed. You can give that a try. I'm actually wondering if maybe the model got rotated off x-axis a little bit when you rearranged them on the bed. That could explain the issues that you are describing. If you look at layer one in your slice, do you see a base layer for all of the parts? If you do see them in the slicer, but it's not actually printing those areas in layer one, that would suggest an extrusion issue or possibly an issue with the bed leveling preventing adhesion on that side.
I am very new to 3D printing I have a Bambu mini how I go about sending the prints I purchased off of here to my printer?
am i crazy or is there not a otter magnet???
and if there is none, we need one for sure!
We so need a keychain version of this otter.
hi i just joined this patreon for chermercial licens . i want to do the otter but i not sure how to go about doing it .
You'll need to download from Cults3d.com and use the 50% off code to get it. This is how I did it when I joined.
I would love it if at some point you could make a pitbull :) I want to make a cute one for my wife. Thanks in advance if you ever do.
This printed beautifully. Took a long, long time, but great result.
are there any of those brown colors similar to any of amolen filaments?
This is such a stunning model but I keep a huge layer shift close to the end of the print, I am printing on my K1 using Creality Print 5, has any else had this?
I've printed a couple at 60% and can't seem to get the neck locking thing to work. I'll try full size and see if that makes a difference. (I didn't realize the platypus had this feature as well)
this is one of my favorites, you should do a fox as well
I second the fox
Awhhh! I love this so much! Thank you! By far my favorite..
if i but your models of of cults3d would you be allowed to sell it
No. I don’t sell my individual files with commercial licensing. To sell PRINTS of my designs, you have to be subscribed to my commercial “merchant” tier, here on Patreon. *Selling the digital files is never allowed.
This is awesome!!! Waiting for the mini version!
what app do you use to make it?
Primarily Blender, but I do like to use Nomad Sculpt on the iPad for some of my digital sculpting tasks.
Can anyone help me with the prints from moving on the bed? Are there settings you use? I have a Bambu printer now. The bearded dragon has a rim. I cannot get the print not to move and ruin the print for the axolotl tail. I want to print the otter but I am afraid of the same thing.

Errmagawd. For a while now I've been hoping you would come up with an otter. Gorgeous!
Love it! Thanx again. You bring my life so mutch joy by creating these. Painting them became my daily escape from stress life.
Absolutely stoked
My favorite animal!!! Can’t wait to get this started!!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So freaking adorable. Going to start the print after dinner
We get a lot of requests for otters! He is cute
Super cute!! Even tho he looks a lot like the ferret.
This is awesome! I love otters and this is such an adorable face. (I cannot wait for the hopefully-coming-soon keychain version too. 😉) That rainbow makes it really pop, I’m probably going to have to try that stuff.
Omg 😍 I'm in love!!
Omg I absolutely love! Gonna print this bab as soon as I can!
