Hey Guys its Jordy here and welcome to my first BIG MODDER project! I'm so happy to introduce the Growing Pains Mod!!! Originally, this project was meant to be a replacement for my Pregnancy Reactions mod from a few months ago. But because I don't know how to keep it simple, I wanted to do more!
There were a lot of delays and without getting too deep into it, there were A LOT of changes (Good and Bad). I didn't really have a clear focus on what I wanted to do and what I wanted to add first. For the most part, this mod is going to be a bit all over the place! Which is perfectly fine because I do plan on adding more to this mod after the initial release.
Let me stress this by saying this is just the FIRST release! There will be plenty of other additions/updates in the future as i plan and expand my knowledge regarding modding. So let's get into what makes the Growing Pains Mod Tick!
FORGOT TO MENTION: LOT CORE LIBRARY REQUIRED
Preschool
You read that right! I wanted to give toddlers a little home away from home and created FOUR different preschools for them to choose. All the preschools in SimNation agreed that they should be opened M-F from 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Each school teaches all of the toddler skills but each one has a different specialty! Want to focus more on your toddler's creativity? Enchanted Stars is their home! What about their communication? The Will Wright Academy is at your service. The cost to attend is 150 btw! Toddlers will be gone for 4-5 hours. Oh and did I forget to mention that your toddlers will come home with a special behavior report!
To send your little ones to school, have a young adult (or older) sim use their phone and click on the Growing Pains App Icon! This is an OPTIONAL ADDON that will require The Growing Pains Core File to function!
9/23: Added a "Go To Preschool" option for Toddlers in V1.13
Special Notes: If your sims leave the lot and your toddler is the only one left on the lot, they will go to the game's Daycare center. That's not a me thing that's just the games' design!
Afterschool Program:
Kids sometimes need somewhere to go afterschool or on the weekends when the day is pretty busy! That's where the Pleasant Afternoon Youth Center comes in! Unlike the SimNation preschool system, the PAYC is a little more flexible in their hours. They're closed only on Sundays! There are a variety of different things your kids can do! Take an Art Class? Playing Videogames with friends? Ooo maybe you want the kiddos to sharpen up their Equestrian skills? Don't worry its free for Kids and they'll only be gone 1- 4 hours tops. (They can even bring some friends)
Depending on the activity, kids will get a buff from it! (Let me know if you get the second buff that comes in two of the activities!)
College Material:
Getting ready for College can be stressful but also memorable time for anyone and sims should be no different! I made a custom Holiday Tradition where your sims will need to either Apply or Enroll to University and spend time with their families i.e. chat or take selfies with them, in order to complete this tradition

There's even a special holiday buff!
Speaking of College, sims can now ask their teens what their college plans will be! And you can pick for your sims and get a cute buff to go with your decision!
Buff Example:
I've got a PromPosal for you!
I've created a Prom Rabbit Hole for your teens! They'll first need to purchase a Prom Ticket (via computer) which comes out to 150 a piece! Prom is only Thursday through Saturday from 6PM to 11PM. The tickets themselves are good for 3 days before they expire or else you'll need to buy a new ticket.
Your Teens will have a few Buffs that show while they're away/when they return. After Prom, your teens will need a break before being able to go again so there is a cooldown from when they can purchase tickets again.

Don't Forget the multi color pens:
Sims can go back to school shopping! But only during the summer! Both Kids/Teens and their caregivers will get special buffs depending on how the shopping went!
Family Values:
This is a concept I had for a mini mod but realized this would be a better fit for Growing Pains. The Initial Idea was to be a mashup of Character Values from Parenthood and Family Dynamics from Growing Together! Family Values are reward traits for your sims who want their families to have what they consider to be important as a family! While any age can unlock these traits in the reward store, only Young Adult Sims and Up can actually gain a Family Value.
For this initial release, I've created 3 different Family Values (more added in a future update):
1) Creativity
2) Wellness
3) Education
Each reward trait will have sims more drawn to do things autonomously and have faster skill gain for their respective traits. For example, sims with the Education Family Value gain skills like Logic or Rocket Science faster.
As with the rest of Growing Pains, this part of the mod will be expanded in future updates! I plan on adding things such as new interactions, custom wants, custom buffs, harder/stronger relationship gains with sims who share similar interests (ex: Wellness sims being able to build friendships quicker with sims who have the fitness trait).
If you ever want to know what the other Family Value your sims have just use the "Talk About Family Values" interaction!
It's GAME TIME!
A cute idea that popped up when talking to friends was a game show rabbit hole! Sims can invite their family members (no more than 8 please!) to go on the Familial Dispute Show! Your sims might've missed it once or twice but its okay! Your sims' family has the potential to get anywhere from 10K to 50K if they win!
BUT there's always a chance they could lose! For now, each member of the family that tags along has the potential to win BIG money! There is a cooldown so sims can only go on the Familial Dispute once a week!
This interaction can be found in the Quality Times Activities Section...Speaking of!
Quality Time is the Best Time
Located on your sims' phones, your sims can spend quality time with family members! There are different locations they can go to and a few special buffs along the way! Maybe they'll want to go Berry Picking? (Hint: They'll bring back berries) Or maybe Winterfest Caroling is more your sims speed? Just be sure to do that one during Winter. For some reason, Sims get a little testy if you show up on their door singing winterfest tunes in the middle of summer...idk man!
More Activities will be added over time in other updates!
Planning for a Baby
Remember my Pregnancy Reactions Mod? Welp, I really wanted to bring back the Baby Fever/ Anti-Baby Fever Buffs! So I made an interaction for sims who are starting to think of having a baby!
Sims must have a romance score of at least 60 in order for this interaction to pop up!
Sims will get one of two buffs: Baby Fever or Not Part of the Plan
Depending on your sims traits they may only get one or the other (ex: Family Oriented Sims will never get the Anti Baby Fever Buff)
For added storytelling, you can have your sims discuss their fear of having kids which will get rid of the anti baby fever buff and add a new one!
It's Tradition!
While giving teens a special holiday tradition for preparing for college, I came up with TWO new holiday traditions! School Picture Day and Anniversaries. Depending on your sims traits they may ignore or love the holidays so keep an eye out!
School Picture Day
For this tradition just have your teens and children sims plan their outfits and take pictures to remember this day!
Anniversaries
A special holiday tradition for sims to celebrate their own relationships no matter how long they've been in them! (I see you one day relationship simmers) I've even created a special buff (Golden Anniversary) for my Elder sims! Go on dates, Perform Romantic Interactions, Renew your vows or WooHoo to complete this!
Lot Traits:
I've been experimenting with lot traits and I've created the "Grandparents House" Lot Trait! With this trait enabled, friendship levels should increase, the Charisma, Knitting and Cooking Skills should increase and they're more likely to do these activities. Also Sims are more likely to be Happy and less likely to be Sad or Angry! I'm new to this so let me know what you think!
Interacting Seems like Work
I've created a good amount of interactions between family members (this might extend to friends outside of the family) While I can't go through ALL of them, there are a few that I thought were cute additions! (Note: Some interactions will add buffs/chance cards and some are just for storytelling!)

Just the Memories
Not sure about any of you all but when I look through the family photo album, I'm just in awe of the rollercoaster of emotions seeing all of my family's moments captured on camera good bad or indifferent. I wanted sims to have the same feeling which is why I've asked a very talented creator and friend to help make this vision come true!
Shoutout to the amazing SixamCC for crafting this beautiful Family Photo Album! It comes in two versions! One is decor and the other is for your sims to place their own photos! (this one requires Growing Together)
If your sim views the Decor Version, there are three possible buffs! (Special Note: You do need to have the Growing Pains Mod installed for the buffs to appear!)
Note: The Decor version has the browse family photo album interaction! Sims will stand for a minute and get one of the buffs down below! So it’s not a “readable” book ♥️
The functional version (where you can place photos) requires Growing together
And that about covers the first release of Growing Pains Version 1! I really do appreciate you guys so much for being patient with me! These last few months have been a lot of work but I think we're getting the hang of this! Hope you all enjoy and I can't wait to see what comes in V2!!! (I left a little Easter Egg for what's next to come! Hint: It's a computer interaction)

not sure if you an SixamCC have considered but was wondering if in future if the decorative photo album can have storge ability for photos. (not showing like in functional) but just storage. so that the fmilies photos can be stored int he photo album to easily be passed down in a legacy. It would be even more awesome if the sentiments from the photos in side could infuence the moodlet possibilities. but idk if that is even possible. but the idea of it being a storage i think would be awesome especial given how many simmers play legacy game play.

This is such an impressive project! My favorite part is the family values. Such a cool idea! I have a few suggestions for other family values if you are interested, please ignore if not interested. Ambition could be one. It could be similar to the ambition trait with a focus on sims needing to be promoted, sims being adventurous and being friendly with materialistic and ambitious and adventurous sims. Family dynamics could be strict reflecting a strict parenting style. They could have a preference for high-energy and spirited sims. They could also favor the charisma skill and entrepreneurial skills and love to win/be competitive in playing games). Another suggestion could be "comic fun" (comedy and mischief skills are their favorite skills. They tend to laugh at pranks even when they are the victim of them kinda like clumsy sims. Favor goofballs, bros, clumsy and cheerful sims. ) Aside from those suggestions I was curious if the family value could influence the family dynamic they would get with other family members for example if independence is a family value maybe all the family members will be much more likely to have distant dynamics with each other? Hi there! This along with making friends during Afterschool programs was a big request so I am looking into it! No promises yet but it is something I really want to add :)
the moodlet are just blue and blank and when I go into build and buy then come back everything disappears and I have to reset my computer.
oh no thats not fun! Hmmm does this happen without the mod installed? I would also check to see if it works without mods. Sometimes 50/50 method helps and sometimes deleting the localthumbcache file works too!

Hello, I love you mod so much! You did an amazing job! Considering the fact that your mod has to do partly with sims 4 in game education, It would be lovely to see a "No school" tradition for the calendar. I'm aware there is a mod out there for it, but for other simmers and myself, we find it to be ineffective. It's just an idea. Thank you!

Hi make sure your ui mods are up to date, make sure you have the latest version of Lots Core library as that was changed recently and test the mod in an empty mods folder as a last resort to check if there’s a conflict 😊

Will this conflict with adeepindigo's Better Preschool Mod (I need this for a place to send my infants); I think it probably will but, on that off chance that it wouldn't, I wanted to ask. Please fix the mod 😔 I was really looking forward to playing it, I now have toddlers you see. I have all the bits I needed e.g. injector and core library and I tried the mod with no other mods in my folder so it's definitely not working with the new update.

Hai do you gave any of the other interactions showing up? I would make sure XML injector is installed and be sure that any UI mods are updated as well
Is there a way to make the scrapbook/photoalbum compatible with the ravasheen photo override mod? I have it and it makes the photos not fit in the frames anymore

Hmm are you going at the correct time frame? 7:30-4pm? Be sure you have the latest MCC. And make sure you clear your localthumb cache

I also wanted to point out that there are some flaws in the fashion. When you send the character to go shopping, the funds are deducted immediately, not after the character returned home.

Most things in this mod is BGC there might be a few things like the kids activities that cater to certain skills that won’t be available unless you own the packs (ex: equestrian club won’t give kids their skills since it’s for the horse ranch pack)
Hello just wanted to know if anyone else has their sims basically max out their gardening skill berry picking? Unless it’s a feature, I sent my parent sims and a teen berry picking (all three had no gardening skill) and I just kept getting notification after notification of the skill leveling up. In less that a sim hour their gardening skill went from 0 to 7

How do you use the Family Photo Album? (I have Growing Together)
So it works like a picture frame! So what you’ll need to do is place it on a surface (not the floor) and you jut drag photos to the empty spaces like you would a picture frame in game
Hi, I downloaded the mod and it works but when I click on "Manage Worlds" and play another family it loses the options to control the sim like i cant see the task bar or social interactions anymore. I am currently removing some of my script mods to see what could be conflicting.

Hey i downloaded this mod last night and read everything I even triple checked everything but i could of definitely done something wrong. I made sure to download the library and xml injector and extracted to my mods folder. When i got in it showed the mod was in the game from the scripts and everything. i cant recall if anything popped up when in game itself but the icons for the apps in the phone aren't there at all for me none of the interactions are but the only thing it lets me see from the mod is the event for the calendar that you made. thank you for your time.
That’s really weird I’m sorry you’re having issues! I would first test the mod with MCC, XML and Lot injector by themselves. If it’s working then it means something in the mods folder could be conflicting. At that point I would 50/50 to see what it is that could be causing issues

i lovee how theres talk about future plans and the possibility of moving out. i always found it weird when kids would move out and parents had no reaction to it before/during and after since it is a big thing. if you could add more to this little feature i think it would add soo much realism. anyways love the mod !!

Will the preschool conflict with the preschool option in adeepindigo's education overhaul? do we take out their module if we want to use yours? :)
This is my question also! I would imagine it conflicts in some way, but I like how this mod is set up for preschools more. I'm going to remove the Education Overhaul preschool package from ADeepIndigo and see how that goes, but do any other packages conflict?
This is a great mod! My question is, if I use your mod to allow teenagers to go to the rabbit hole prom, will the high school prom extension prompt come up again?
They should still be able to use the HSY prom system! Mine is just a rabbit hole so its something on it own!
For the University things I assume we need Discover University, is that correct? I see for the functional photo album we need Growing Together. Are there any other expansions/packs we need?

Hai there. So I’ll have to do some testing with it to be sure. It shouldn’t conflict with asking about college plans but it might conflict with the tradition due to it using the games university enrollment system

Hai there it shouldn’t be any conflicts with other preschool mods! But yes the preschool and the family albums are optional!
I downloaded this mod today and it seems it's not working for me. I'm trying to get a young adult sim to send a toddler sim to preschool. The time in game is 9:26am, the options on the preschool menu are all greyed out and when I hover over them it says "This Preschool is only open 7:30am to 4pm Monday through Friday!" (The day in game is Tuesday) am I missing something? I even tried removing the preschool module from Education Overhaul, but that made no difference unfortunately.

The interactions aren't visible in my game, they are there but there's no text on them :( The only one that is visible is the baby plan one

As far as I’m aware there aren’t any conflicts! I play with RPO faithfully so I haven’t noticed any issues 😂

Sorry forgot to add to my post! To send your toddlers click on any of the adult sims and click on the growing pains icon on the phone. You can send them to preschool that way.
