Regarding subscription billing

Here I will explain how subscription billing will be applied on my patreon.

NOTE! On my patreon, everything in this post will start taking effect in December 2024, not in November 2024. This is because I chose to delay applying these updates on my patreon until I can figure out how to adapt to these changes. So if you want to join membership or make purchases on my patreon during next month (November 2024) then please do that on the web or on an Android platform. What is subscription billing?

You’re charged when you join and monthly on that same date. You can see your next charge date at checkout and in your Memberships tab. New members will see clear messaging at checkout, letting them know their next payment will be the following month on the same date.

Why is it happening?

Apple is requiring Patreon to use its in-app purchasing system for purchases made in the iOS app in order for it to remain on the App Store for all fans and creators.

What's changing in this billing model?

Beginning in November 2024, new purchases, including new memberships and digital goods made in the Patreon iOS app, are subject to Apple’s 30% App Store Fee.

The App Store fee does not apply to existing memberships and memberships made on other platforms.

So if you want to avoid Apple’s 30% App Store Fee on patreon, I recommend you join new memberships and make new purchases through the web or through an Android platform.

What about members who joined memberships before November 2024?

Nothing will change for them, they will still be charged on the 1st of every month, and the Apple's app store fees will not apply to them. But if they delete a certain membership then rejoin it after November 2024 then the new subscription billing model will apply to them.

What's changing on my patreon?

For every new set released for a certain month, the link for the set will be sent in a private message for every member who joins my (Design Assistant) tier on the same month when my set was released. Every month I release a new set after the 5th of that month.

Important Examples: (January and February are examples)

"I joined the (Design Assistant) tier on the 3rd of January, when do I get the new set link?"

The link for the new set of January will be sent to you in a private message within 24 hours once the set is released. Every new set on any month will be released after the 5th of that month.

"I joined the (Design Assistant) tier on the 16th of January, when do I get the new set link?"

The link for the new set of January will be sent to you in a private message within 24 hours right after you join.

"I joined the (Design Assistant) tier on the 20th of January, and my subscription will be renewed on the 20th of February, when do I get the new set of February's link?"

The link for the new set of February will be sent to you right after your membership is renewed, which means you will receive a private message containing the link for February's set on the 20th (the day your membership is renewed).

"What about extra sets?"

As long as you are a (Design Assistant) tier member who received current month's new set, then you will receive the link for the extra set of the same month if there was one, and you will receive it right after its release.

"I joined the (Design Specialist) tier on the 14th of January, when do I get the new set link?"

(Design Specialist) tier members will get access to all sets and extra gifts of the current month and all past months right after they join the tier.

"Do I have to be a paid member to get a certain set?"

No, all of my sets are available on my patreon shop so you can get any of them separately without the need to become a paid member.
