Alright, Let's Talk TS4 & Paralives
Yesterday I asked patrons for feedback on paralives mods. Did you want them, what is a fair early access structure, and well, do you even really care about that game at all?
I received quite a few answers, many positive about Paralives, but also a few that made it clear this game is at least a little divisive among my supporters. I know some of you are here for my TS4 mods and solely that.
So Let's Clear the Air
If you're here just for my Sims 4 mods, don't worry, nothing is slowing down or being replaced there. My Sims 4 mods will be continue to be developed and maintained just like they always have. In fact, in case you've missed it, I have two mods in early access right now - Searchable Recipes and Better Exceptions v3.17
I know getting posts for Paralives mods might be annoying if you're only interested in The Sims 4 mods. Unfortunately, I don't really have a good way to mute those posts for you. The only way I really could, would be to make a separate patreon - which would force those who are interested in both to basically double-pledge to me.
Obviously I'm not going to do that, as that would be unfair. If we put it this way:
Option A: Some members get some unwanted notifications.
Option B: Some members have to pay double for early access.
I hope we can all agree Option A is the better option.
What I can do is put paralives mods all in their own little collection. I'll also get around to putting my TS4 mods in collections. Any paralives posts will be clearly tagged as for Paralives, so those not wanting the email alerts for those could also set keyword filters in their email of choice to move or delete those emails, or simply choose to ignore them.
What's To Come
Firstly, I have several TS4 items lined up for releases and updates. As discussed previously, one of those is the 4.0 revamp of Better Exceptions. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about paralives modding and mods for it will probably be few and far between compared to my Sims 4 mods.
That said, I will probably be focusing on paralives content the next several days. A fresh codebase to work with might as well be catnip for developers, so I'm going to be exploring what I can do with that. Please do excuse any rush of paralives notifications you get from me for now. Once I've got a good footing with the code, my focus will be mainly on TS4 per usual.
Now about paralives mods - Yesterday I immediately released Sensible Camera Control for free on Steam Workshop. Since then, it's already reached over 18,000 downloads! As discussed with patrons, my early access going forward will be similar to how I do my TS4 mods. However due to the ease of creating some types of paralives mods, I'll scale the early access period down depending on amount of effort. If a mod was particularly quick and easy to complete, it will have a shorter early access period. When Paralives mods are officially released, they will go up on the Steam Workshop.
I'm currently working on a script mod for Paralives and it's definitely been fun to work on something fresh and challenging.
I hope those of you who aren't interested in Paralives understand and stick around for all of my usual Sims 4 work you know and love. Thanks everyone! 馃А

Since it sounds like mods for Paralives won't work on macs (?) that just adds another reason for me to delay buying Paralives till Full Release as it's definitely not cooked enough for me to be interested in now. But thanks for the clarification since it feels like a lot of content creators (not so much modders) have jumped on the Paralives bandwagon to such an extent that I hardly check in with them anymore. I really appreciate overall how well you communicate with us about your work!
I sure hope I won't have to pay double. I don't see myself paying double. Sorry.
That was never really on the table, I was just saying this is the better way to do it
I love both games and will remain pledged to you for content related to both games. I am excited for Paralives, but the Sims isn't going anyhwhere for me. Thanks for all that you do!
Thank you for this. I've played Sims since it's inception, but have always craved something different, followed Paralive's from day one so its only right I continue supporting the game. I see a lot of potential with Paralive's, especially when you mod creators get in on it. Thank you for keeping the same pay as I am paid for the year.
Ngl, I'm hoping that most creators slowly phase it out of their workflow until EA stops updating the game altogether so we can *finally* have mods that don't need constant updates except to improve/expand content.
If EA were to stop updating it we should know that there would be no further new features to include. One reason they update it is to make it compatible with the next major add-on they plan to add. If they had not updated it in the last 10 years 90% of the features we enjoy today would never have been added. Forget Royalty! Forget ballrooms and 19th Century Sims parties! Basically just play it vanilla with no expansions.
You are such a wonderful person! And honestly, you鈥檙e not only a brilliant modder, but also such a thoughtful and caring human being!! 馃ぉ I really don鈥檛 think clicking on an email you鈥檙e not interested in and deleting it is some huge problem, at least not for a reasonable person. 馃槃 So please don鈥檛 worry about that at all! Go work on the things that truly excite you, the things that spark your passion and give you new emotions! What could possibly be more wonderful for a modder than exploring and learning something new? Wishing you tons and tons of inspiration!!!! P.S. I haven鈥檛 bought Paralives yet, but I鈥檓 really interested in the game, so I鈥檓 looking forward to seeing what you create for it! 馃憖
So I am not interested in PL but I don't care if you post about it bc I can just as easily ignore those posts & scroll past, it won't bother nor affect me :-) Do what makes you happy my guy! If you have patrons who want both then give them what they want, charging double as you said is wacko. That's my 2 cents for what it's worth. Have a blessed week
I shall certainly stick around. I don't have Paralives (yet) but will be interested to watch what you are up to.
The camera stability mod for Paralives is fantastic! Do I still deep down love my Sims, absolutely! But, like adding a new baby to a family, there is more than enough room and love for both games.
Didn't know anything about paralives until this post so I went and did my research and I'm all for it. Absolutely! Now that I know modders like yourself are adding their support their too? Oh, it's ON!!!! I'm totally in! Sims 4 is ONLY alive because of modders like you. I wouldn't touch the game without all my mods and custom content. I've always hated that about EA so I'm all for an indie team making their move. I fully on board!
I would rather you make mods for InZoi. I still really have high hopes for InZoi. Personally, I don't like the art style of Paralives... it just doesn't look good to me.
That's fair, but so far I haven't had any interest in inZoi. If they enable script mods then I'll at least give it another look.
Absolutely love all of this! So happy you are expanding into more games and are having a lot of fun doing so!!! Cannot wait to see what the future brings for you!
I'm pretty chill. If there's a mod that's not for me, I just delete the email. It's as easy as that. Thank you for your continued hard work. I super appreciate you and all that you do.
Gotta second this eminently sensible viewpoint.
Very excited about this and once again thank you for all that you do!!
I love your Sims 4 mods but I did purchase the early access Paralives and I'm thrilled you're branching out there too!!! Can't wait to see what you come out with for either game!
