Gift of Hedone: Dom and Sub Working
Hello you beautiful deviants,
I wanted to show you how the base gear Dom and Sub stats will be working and visible in the game. This will be a wordy one, sorry.
In short, each bit of gear will have a Dom or Sub Prefix so you will be able to identify the type of gear they are. When Crafting comes into play, these will be rolled randomly as either Dom or Sub.
Then in the top right for your character details you can see what sort of preference your character has
The below is just a quick example highlighting different bits of gear, you can see the Prefix changes for the gear.
I have changed the amount of Tiers and how it works slightly, so now there is 4 Sub, 4 Dom Tiers, and 1 Switch Tier.
How the code works is it checks the amount of gear you have equipped thats Sub, or Dom, so if you have 3 Sub (S), and 3 Dom (D), that would be a Switch - 2S, 2D, 1S, 1D would also be switch as its a balance between the two.
As soon as one outweighs the other, it will track how many bits of gear you have of that.
So, if you have 4 S, and 2 D, it would be considered "Quite", if you only wore 2 bits of gear that were both one preference it would be "A Little", If you have 5 of one, it would be "Very", and if all pieces of gear were one preference it would be "Extremely"
Then you assigned Tier would affect the corresponding attack and defense of that stat set of S.ATK S.DEF and D.ATK and D.DEF
The below scenarios are assuming you have matching armor, matching affinity, and matching subclass - so those calculations are not taken into consideration - and the impact and percentages I am using are quite high, just to demonstrate.
Scenario 1 (Lower Risk, Lower Reward): Going up against an enemy who is type Dom, and the enemy Tier is Dom3 (Very) - you are at Tier Dom4 (Extremely)
lets say that gives you a 50% bonus to D.ATK and D.DEF, you would also get a penalty of 50% to S.ATK and S.DEF, and for Tier 3 that gives a 35% bonus and reduction.
That Enemy Attacks you for 100 Base Damage, that means as a Dom3 - that would go to 100 x 1.35 = 135 - but because you have Dom4 50% reduction they would do 135 x 0.5 = 67.5 - rounded to 67
But what about your Attack?
So Abilities have set Dom or Sub Types - so it will be important to use the correct Abilities on the right character also - as if you use Sub abilities on a Dom build, you are probably going to have a bad time.
But lets say you use a Dom ability that did do 100, that would do 100 x 1.5 = 150 damage - but that would then be affected by the Enemies Dom or Sub Tier - so given they are Dom3, they would get 35% reduction - you would do 150 x 0.65 = 97.5 rounded to 97
They would do less damage to you, and you would do less damage to them (lower risk, lower reward)
Scenario 2 (Higher Risk, Higher Reward): Going up against an enemy who is type Sub (Tier Sub2) - Again, you Dom4
In this case, you would have 50% less S.DEF, so the enemy who would be Sub2 would be 25% extra S.ATK, meaning their base damage would be 100 x 1.25 = 125. Then that would do 50% more to you because of your defense becoming 125 x 1.5 = 187.50 - rounded 187
But with you attacking it, they have 25% less protection - so you would do 100 x 1.5 = 150 x 1.25 = 187.5 - rounded 187.
So they do more damage, but you do also (higher risk, higher reward)
That is the plan anyway, seeing it practice will and how you all like it or hate it will be what's most important - maybe the ratio or benefit to weakness will change i.e you get a 50% bonus, but only a 40% negative consequence, also where in the damage chain does it effect the number - but i digress, that's for testing later.
Below is a quick overview of me swapping out bits of gear, and you can see the "Preference" in the top right changes depending on the gear i have equipped.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and feedback is always welcome :)
