Greg on Discord
Hey guys! We've heard you on the discord! Greg wanted to let you know what was going on! Please note - we know there are some issues. We are working through this as best we can! Please give us a little patience as we figure out our best steps moving forward! Thanks guys! - PLD
PS - I've never been a big discord guy either. I use it solely to talk to my son because that's where he communicates lol. We'll fix things up!

I feel so bad asking because I generally just don't want to be a nuisance. But I'm new here and the link expires after a while. If it's not a bother, could I please get a fresh one? 🙏
So there isn't an official one per se anymore. This is what used to be the official one but we don't really have much to do with it: https://discord.gg/zArtwpGF -PLD
How do I join the discord?
https://discord.gg/rRMddFgr
95% of the time the community will be able to interact with each other. People can share what they are doing, maybe play some games together. You can hold fun events and interact with the community who are not in California. You will find the funniest jokes and memes on there and most of the time, It will be fun. But the caveat is that the one thing that is synonymous with public discord is drama. Drama can come in and go in the span of seconds. I know you said that you cherish your patreon members but if one of them says something weird on Discord, you have to be willing to ban them on discord (and maybe even on patreon). Im sure the majority of your community wont cause any problems but it its always the troublemakers that are the loudest. It some point, you will eventually have a Discord member type up the worst drama imaginable. And if you are not comfortable banning paying partreon members from the discord due to their chat interactions, I suggest not having a discord. But then the problem could be a mass banning, which coulda probably lead to more phone calls so that's another problem discord will give u. Having honest moderators are tough to find too.
You guys have a discord server?
Indeed! https://discord.gg/2VpyumGQ
I think that for your discord, you'd need several moderators. Typically they are volunteers. Then you interact directly with the moderators. They can kick out troublemakers. I stopped using the discord looooong ago because of there were a few very toxic bullies on it who seemed to love attacking people for literally anything.
That is basically what we are starting to do. We have the two now who are revamping the place a bit. I've become a contact person now with them in cast they need assistance. I will also be checking in as well! - PLD
Hey Greg, I’ve been familiar with discord for over 4-5 years now and if you’d like any help with setting up channel verifications to avoid bots and add roles with personal selection for specific chats that allow the rejects options into what convos they wanna insert themselves in just let me know. I also know of a few moderation bots for discord channels to help managing.
Also, I’m not in the discord channel myself mainly cause I’m in enough channels as is but willing to join if help is needed
I was on the Rejects Discord for a hot minute, but I couldn’t figure it out and was getting too many notifications so I just deleted the whole app and called it a day.
I also do not know how discord works, understandable man.
I'm starting to learn...again. -PLD
I joined the discord when I joined Patreon. Like Lisa said, there was nothing happening when I joined. I don’t really understand it so I don’t even look at it. I turned my own notifications off because of another group I follow that seems to post every five minutes, so I didn’t even know there was anything going on. I’m sorry it came down to Greg having to get involved like this, it probably added more stress than he needs on top of running the Rejects. Thanks for all you do, Greg. And like Tara said, spread the hugs, love and laughter!
I got a porn bot on one of my other servers. It had good taste
Wait a minute, Greg has a son?
That part
People have been dropping in asking how to lend a hand in helping the community succeed (in as drama-free a way as possible), so a channel’s been created, #server-discussion — please join us there if you’re interested.
How does one find the discord?
Hugs, love and laughter!
Oh, to add something since it sounds like there was a volunteer helper who left: You can’t put it all on one volunteer. I was once the president of a professional society with hundreds of volunteers, and volunteer work can never be put on a schedule; you can’t expect 24/7 response from volunteers. They can self-manage, but “just pitch in” only works if you a) have enough people so that anyone can bail anytime for any length of time when they have personal, family or work commitments; b) they’re empowered to get it (whatever “it” is) done without micromanagement; and c) they understand they’re working on behalf of others and can’t mix personal feelings with administrative duties. But, like, 5–8 people, with 2 or 3 of them managing the rest, would be enough so it wouldn’t feel like a job (volunteering for anything should be fun) but you can still expect things will get handled.
Ok, now it makes sense! For how active I am on the patreon page, I was a little disturbed about how tf I never knew about the existence of a discord in all this years, turns out they didn't either.😂 It's all good! I hopped in to see what's up in there, it doesn't seem to have been much activity before this drama anyway, which is kind of sad, cause people try to built a mini communities but if not much people are interested, it falls by the wayside, I feel sad for the people involved in the discord, but what can you do?
Its not drama. Its their unprotected server being hit with spam and the solving of that being left to two unpaid moderators that don't even have complete access to the tools that would fix it. According to the mods when they abandoned the discord it was very active. Neither of the mods can even afford a Patreon sub right now so they can't even see this. We are having to give them the info second hand.
Bots destroying a community...??? The Terminators of the Reject Nation...I'm going to say thank you to all the moderators out there, you are appreciated
As someone who's been running the admin on discords for youtuber for almost 10 years (admittedly not big channel as yours I'm pretty versed in the inner workings of it if there is anything I can offer Greg and crew dm me but if you choose to delete the discord then I support the decision
Reject nation as a reject
As someone who mods and admins other patron Discords, I dunno about in the past, but yesterday+today hasn’t been “drama” as far as I can see, it’s just this: some bots have been getting in and spamming everyone. No one who knew how AND had permissions was available, so it kept happening. I don’t think you’re down to a choice between shutting it all down or *hiring* someone; most patron-only Discords are run by volunteers in my experience. (Volunteers who get some thank-you like Patreon reimbursement or shout-outs or whatever, but volunteers.) You can delegate. In this case, if a volunteer had access to temporarily change the notification settings, it could have been quickly fixed without need for your intervention.
I don’t really get the drama - was literally mildly annoying to clear the notifications but what can you do - bots are gonna bot 🤷♀️ I joined the Discord about 6 months ago and there wasn’t much discussion going on so I just jump on every now and again. Do what you need to do but equally it could be nice to have it be more lively for discussion. We appreciate all you do - some people seem to just have a hair-trigger for sending horrible messages.
Coolz
It’s all good, no biggie :) appreciate the efforts as always from yall
