What I'm Working On #034
Hey all! I'm back with another update on how things are progressing. I know it's been quiet for a few weeks -- I ran into a few bugs that have unfortunately set back the timeline of the Regency update. It's important to me that I make sure things are really finished and not rushed, and I want to take the time to iron out these issues before release. I'm so sorry for the change of plans when I had thought I was so close!
One of the issues I've had is finding a way for the dances to not require your sims to be in a group. Oddly, my sim pickers work just fine as long as the sims are in a group of any variety -- even if the group isn't one of the picked sims - but obviously I would much rather that not be a requirement at all because some of these dances involve more than 8 sims.
I've also created a settings menu which will be available on the mailbox, and this has been a more intensive part of the update than initially planned. Not only will the usual settings in the config file be more accessible and changeable while you're in the game, but you'll be able to enable or disable entire systems such as Lady Whistledown,, social classes, legitimacy, and turn off fan and parasol autonomy without completely removing them from the game, if you prefer. You can even choose specifically which scandals are enabled at all. This has involved adding new testsets to almost every interaction available in the mod, but I believe it will be worth it especially for those who prefer to play without certain features.
There's also a really basic (optional) story progression system, so your unplayed sims will be able to become members of the ton with no influence on your own, engage in their own scandals, and enter courtships on their own.
I also want to say that if there are requests for the autonomy/settings menu, now would be a good time to make those suggestions! Since the timeline for this has been pushed back anyway, I'm going through and trying to make these systems are as complete as possible.

I love rotational playing and i love lady Whistledown gives me all the gossip, i wish there was like an autonomous make member of the ton (from sims that already belong) or they inherited the trait just because if im focus household, my sims newer debutants where im not active would automatically enter into the gossip and the balls :)
This looks amazing!! A autonomy/settings suggestion I have is a way limit the amounts of Diamonds the Queen picked. I play on a rotationally on long lifespan and every sim I've introduced to the sim has been chosen as the diamond so far.

Btw, would it be tough to add some optional gender/Sim's gender preferences check for the dances like the waltz? Because at my Victorian balls, when it's autonomous, it's often father dancing with son or two brothers instead of the guys noticing the eligible debutantes who drink away their sorrows at the bar...😂 Or why is the mum dancing with her daughter instead of trying to hoist her daughter on some rich Duke? I mean, it's fun, but gets kinda frustrating when I try to shoot a historical ball scene😂 Thanks, no pressure, just a thought.

Ooh so now I can see why the story progression was giving you problems! It was gnawing on my brain when you told me about it on Discord - haha, I get it now! This is going to be just amazing, the dancing is incredible! And wow, so much work with the enabling and disabling of features. Take your time, thank you for your wonderful work!

Regarding the autonomy/settings menu is there a way to restrict certain settings by world? Also does this new setting format allow the inclusion of new events as scandal causing under Lady Whistledown? Totally fine if not, I was just curious about how the setting works so far. It sounds really cool!
