Yeah, reunions are weird. Like, even if you do want to reconnect with people that you lost contact and connection with, it's awkward, right? You can't actually just come out and say, "Hey, I know we haven't spoken in many years, but want to be friends again?" It feels like you would be judged, like "oh, is their current life that bad that they need to relive the past?" Or, like Wes was saying, it feels like you'd be asking for something taboo and too late, because both you and that other person already made the choice to not stay in touch, so it feels like it would be selfish and insensitive to ask to change that now. Just like Steph was saying too, interactions just stay distant and polite pretty much the whole time. Although she mentioned it to point out that old enemies usually don't keep beef or drama anymore, it also works in reverse--people that used to be somewhat close friends or acquaintances have become strangers, too.

The Light Novel alludes that the 'other' Sakuta remembered Shouko much earlier, sometime shortly after Kaede's bullying started, so with foresite he gained he was able to address each new incident fairly quickly. Likely gained academic knowledge too which is how he became so 'perfect.' Even more fun - Remember Akagi's boyfriend from the last episode? This world's Akagi found his duplicate in the other world. The poltergiest was the 'transmitted' effects of them getting busy. That's why Akagi B said "So early in the day?" or something like that. If you go back and watch the movements of clothing, hair, scratch marks on her back....yeah. (All confirmed in the LN)

I love the lesson here - moving forward despite the mistakes from the past and gladly accept the imperfections and letting go of the burden of perfection. People like Akagi escapes their life to find a comfortable one, a detour but eventually accepting the mistakes of the past allowing people like her to heal their selves. Seeing Steph sympathizes with Sakuta with all the bs these puberty syndromes come for Mai and Sakuta, I feel you it is quite exhausting emotionally for them lol.
