I might be wrong, but when tartah looks at coco at the docks you can faintly see her hair having greenish collor.

Yeah, its interesting seeing how this author depicts basically the mage vs muggle divide in a world where magic is out in the open unlike in harry potter where its all secret society stuff. Like sure, normal people will harass witches because they dont know what the limitations of magic is but at the same time the witches sort of deserve it for monopolizing such a useful ability and intentionally restricting some of their positive uses. So it has a questionable moral dilemma creating tension that technically doesnt need to exist in their world It's a fun contrast compared to Ascendance of a Bookworm which has just an ok anime but is a great light novel series I am reading right now. In it they treat magic as more of a god-given blessing that only the nobility deserves and shows more of an obviously oppressive side to the question of "what if just some people can do magic."

Maybe im mistaken and they just look similar, but i think is a cool detail that the dust used to make Coco feel better, seems to come from the herb Qifrey ate last episode to recover a little.

They did a really good job showing us Tartah's POV, how he tries to deal with his shortcomings by using unconventional methods. The fact that he's using magic to overcome the very limitation that's supposedly preventing him from becoming a witch in the first place is actually a really cool concept.

For me I saw Tartah's baring from practicing as a witch to be overly restrictive and more ableist than logical. When commenting on why he can't be a witch, there was no specific reason, only that witch society valued good eyesight. We see here a case where Tartah's eyesight made things very challenging for him (as I once heard someone say, disabilities are disabling), but with tools and support and magic that he himself cast he was able to navigate it. There may be jobs or roles as a witch that he truly cannot have, but off the top of my head I can't recall us seeing any use of magic where colorblindness would make things impossible. Here we see the doctor ask him if he wanted to become a doctor himself even though he had spent half the episode struggling to find the right medicine. All he'd really need to do to compensate is make sure all his bottles were labelled (or he could use this new nifty spell). I think we often see someone with a disability and instictively assume they are much less capable than they actually are since we can't imagine operating without whatever it is that they themselves lack, but most of the time that disability just means that they've learned to move through the world in a different way than you. Likening it to what you said about piloting, if you're colorblind you're not allowed to be a pilot, but you're still allowed to drive a car. Even if at a traffic light someone can't tell the difference between red and green lights by color, that just means they instead go by position. Bottom light means go, top light means stop. I myself am pretty nearsighted, but that just means I need to wear glasses while I drive (couldn't read street signs otherwise). We rarely think of nearsightedness or farsightedness as a disability, but that's largely because someone a long time ago devised a spell (glasses) that's become prevalent enough that most people with otherwise poor eyesight can operate as though they have 20/20 vision 99% of the time. Tina Friml has a fun line in a stand up special that goes something like "people look at me and think I suffer from cerebral palsy. I don't. I have cerebral palsy, I suffer from people." On a totally different and lighter note, I have to say that Tartah and Coco are absolutely adorable. When they're together it feels like I'm watching flashbacks of a love story set 10 years in the future.

I love how menacing they make Qefri in scenes without doing much like him just standing there on the dock
