His particular position (or role played in the 4 major mage families) was one that connected the royal family with the mages. Still, the prince is related to one of the 4 major mage families. He's Yul's cousin (not Uk's. Steph either said the wrong name or got it confused). The queen is Yul's aunt. And the current King is the former King's brother. Also, as you see in this episode, the Prince is still learning magic and is being tutored by Jin Mu (a mage and Assistant Gwanju). So, it's not that there's no relation whatsoever. He's just not a direct descendant of the Seo line and instead is representative of the royal family in the show.

Just so you guys know, actor for park dangu (blonde you like alot) also played GwiNam in all of us are dead (the bully that kept coming after cheongsun that became the hybrid zombie that didn’t die). Idk if you guys would recognize him because he had blonde hair in this one. Lol.

Danggu, the funny guy, is the main bully in all of us are dead. I don’t know if you already caught on that. But his acting range is so amazing to watch

And even if he wanted to try anything, not having any power wouldve made him look weak in the eye of the royal family, hence he would not represent a threat. that being said.. I really do not know if there's a "correct way" to approach this without hurting him.

I’ll only say this the King is dead and his brother is the current king. The prince is Yul’s cousin, the queen is Yul’s father’s sister. So yes the prince and Uk are related not by blood technically but by soul… yeah confusing indeed. One thing that they said that you might have missed was that the night Uk was born the King’s star was seen. This is why Uk gaining becoming powerful is dangerous to the current regime. The one born under the Kings star could take over the throne. This would cause chaos and lead to war. So his father didn’t want that to happen so he closed Uk’s gate.
