I am glad you enjoyed my glorious dark past. He ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Let's break the 4th wall. Steins; Gate 0 takes place between episode 23 and episode 24 of season 1 (original Steins; Gate). Idk why everyone suggested watching Steins; Gate 0 episode 1 before 23B OVA, but 23B OVA is the prequel episode to Steins; Gate Zero.
Although steins;gate 0 is crucial to the series story wise, I think part of what makes the original special is the feeling of paranoia and tension in the first 12 episodes. It gives a feeling of cozyness and normalcy on the surface but subconsciously something is very, very wrong and that helps foreshadow and build up the second half of the series really well IMO. Have never seen anything quite like it yet.
IN Steins Gate 0 is where you guys saw how HARD okarin REALLY fought.

So I straight to the point, now you guys already watch steins gate 0 episode 9 and I would like to know that did you guys planning to watch the movie? after finish the zero, do it free to watch? ( or i need to upgrade my membership $5 to unlock) because you guys already watch the 24b and ova and you just can't skip that movie because that mean you guys not complete the whole steins gate series at all. man the comments here berating 0 are absolutely wild, sg 0 is absolutely essential to know how hard it actually was to reach steins gate world line it adds sooo much depth to the og show itself while also having a super duper satisfying end too, i would like to add that you absolutely should read the mangas babel of the grieved maze and brownian motion of love and hate both are fan translated steins gate spin off mangas that are just incredible and I can't explain what they contain without spoiling them so just read them from mangadex website, they're unbelievably good
Easily the number 1 in my list I mean there are all Fate/Zeros, Ghost in the Shells, Haruhi movie, Perfect Blue but Steins Gate is just first place period.

I just wanted to share this. Remember one of Okabe's first statements in the show as the mad scientist HYOUUIN KYOUMA? He said, "I am the destructor of worlds, bringer of chaos." whether or not he destroyed those worlds he did bring true chaos. Just think about it. The alpha world line and the beta world lines have "attractor fields"/"convergence points" where something is destined or fated to happen, but in the Steins;Gate world line anything and everything is possible. Where everything is "unpredictable". It truly creates "Chaos". By the true definition of the word, Okarin created chaos. If the other world lines were left behind then technically it could be considered "destroyed". So his quote at the beginning was true. He just didn't know it yet. Man this show is such a masterpiece.
You can watch 0 but it may not be as good as the og steins gate.

I don't know what people here are saying about 0 being bad, but from my experience watching it back then and now I still has no desire to re-watch it (means I don't enjoy it as much). Still it doesn't mean that it's bad. One thing for sure is that I will gladly re-watch it all with your reactions. xD also a comment already mentioned here in the comments but there is a mini-series consists of 4 episodes, they are short episodes and sponsored by IBM iirc lol (it's the bubbly, slice of life kind of episodes)
Don't listen to them, Steins Gate 0 is fantastic and way more heavy than the OG. Sure the direction and the peaks are not as high as SG but it's amazing overall and perfectly ties in with the OG series and complements it perfectly. Also more Mayuri moments is always great

Dunno why some of the others have such a hate for steins gate 0 but i thouught it really spiced up some of the unkowns for the main story and would recommend it

Do yourselves a favor guys and don't watch Steins;Gate 0. Or watch it at your own risk. It's a disaster, nothing like the original, and I wouldn't even consider it canon.
That's a really bad advice. Why wouldn't you consider it canon if it doesn't retcon the OG story? In fact it only expands it to fill some gaps that were left open. But of course, 0's anime adaptation wasn't done flawlessly like the original was, creating pacing problems and plot points that are introduced but abandoned without getting resolved, but the story of 0 as a whole (Visual Novel, Anime and Light Novels) to me is better than the OG one, sadly it got done dirty in all mediums (all of them are incomplete and only when combined you get the full picture).
Steins Gate have one of the best executions and endings of any story I've ever seen. But the writting team and the director changed to make Steins Gate 0 and its quality isn't even close to a spec of what we had in the original.
Steins;Gate Zero is decisively harder to adapt because of important plot lines and developments happening in branching paths that lead to different endings, yet they all contribute to the Final Timeline. Steins;Gate VN is basically a straight line from start to finish with optional endings, thus it has no problem being adapted. Zero would need double the runtime to be able to show every essential plotline to be "as good"

i watched Steins gate in the perfect order Steins;Gate 1-22 Steins;Gate 23B Steins;Gate 0 (all of them) and then finish it off with the Steins;Gate 23-24 using this order, i cried once or twice on steins gate 0 and it feels like you read Lord of the Rings from start to finish, a perfect anime with a complicated watch order
So you guys missed Steins;Gate: Movie which is the direct continuation of the good ending and its very good too

It's Steins;Gate with Hamasaki Hiroshi(the director). Steins;Gate 0, which came out many years later, had a different staff, including the director. I just want you to watch Steins;Gate with the same old staff before going to 0 hahaha.
23b is the prequel to watch Steins Gate 0
lol I'm glad you share the same sentiments as me. the ending of steins;gate was so satisfying and perfect that I didn't really want to watch anything related anymore even though It's one of my favorite shows. I felt anything beyond ep 24 was unnecessary so I stubbornly didn't watch the ovas, movie and zero even though they've been out for years. I still folded eventually and ended up watching them though lol, and I think ep 24 of the first season is still the ultimate ending anyway because everything leads up to that one timeline. zero's basically about the future okabe and how he came up with the solution that we saw in ep 23 and 24 so zero still loops back to the first season :D
ZERO is a story of Okabe from video message from ep23. It shows what originally happened and only because of S;G0 ending of original S;G was possible.
