Dev Update! 8/19/26

Hey, folks! Hope you’re all doing well. Let’s get into it!

Ch16 is rolling right along, but I did decide to add a scene of 40ish images to the beginning of the chapter. Typical Neon stuff. But, I think it’s a good addition, and it’s done. Now I need to do a little work on the gym scene with Alex, annnd I’ll be ready to put out a demo for the $15+ supporters. My plan is to put out that demo build at the same time as the final Ch15 version. So, the release day will basically look like this:

• Public release: Ch15 with the finished art. This is relatively minor, and has the changes I’ve previously discussed, adding Cutiedoll’s chat window to the screen for her livestreaming scene.

• Close Friends release: Ch15 with the finished art and a teaser for Ch16, with the first three scenes.

Adding that little scene to Ch16 slowed down my plans for the Close Friends release, but it’ll be out ASAP.

Regarding Chapter 15, after it went public people had, uhhh.. Let’s say passionate responses to it. Nothing that I didn’t expect, but the overwhelming negative sentiment was basically, “Why did you waste time with this character?” If you’re curious as to the why, you can dig through the Dev Updates for the last couple of months.

Now, I’m no stranger to criticism. I don’t think I’ve done an update yet that didn’t get me some haters. First it was Nicki, then Gabby, then Mason, then Pepper, then Risa, and more recently, Cassie. But, I’m always happy to receive constructive (i.e. actionable) criticism. After I finished the chapter, I had some good discussions on Discord that convinced me to build onto Ch15, at a later date. I think it wound up more linear than I intended, and that’s something I think I could remedy, in interesting ways. I’m always trying to do better.

I also had several of my public-facing posts (some months old) get flagged for nudity (despite the absence of nudity), and I had to set them to private. Maybe the algorithm just got tweaked or something. But, it once again has me mulling the idea of paywalling these Dev Updates. I’ve resisted this impulse for four+ years, because I think it’s just nice to have a weekly check-in where everyone can interact with me, regardless of financial support. But, there are benefits to just saying, “Screw it,” and locking everything down. Like being able to post boobs, and charging anyone who wants to tell me how much I suck. So, I’ll keep mulling it for now. If I did go this route, I’d probably open up a couple of my Discord channels to the public, so there’d still be a space for people who can’t afford to support my work, but want to discuss it and chat with the community.

I dunno, dudes! I’m in a weird headspace this week, which is why this post is up two days late. I’ve kinda been focusing on the art and writing, while ignoring this side of things. But big thanks to all the people who have nice stuff to say about my work, and those who have more critical things to say, but are still chill about it. You folks keep me going when I start thinking about throwing in the towel. Join me next week, and I promise to be more upbeat.
