Dev Update! 2/4/26

Hey folks, hope all’s well with you and yours this week! The snow in my little corner of the world has begun to thaw, turning my city into a slushy mess. But, it’s nice to see the sun again.

Apologies for the late blog post, but I had a few long, up-past-midnight days of dev work while I tried to get Chapter 14 in shape. I’d been aiming to get it out on Sunday, but 2 AM rolled around and I was still working on it, so I had to give that up and go to bed. On Monday I managed to finish it, but I knew it’d be a bug-riddled mess, so I tossed it on Discord to have people do the initial round of bug-testing. Tuesday was spent releasing bug-fix patches to Discord, followed by my own playtesting of certain problematic sections. Then there was some ugly user interface stuff that I had to beautify. Today I did my final round of testing, and now the bulk of Chapter 14 is available to $15+ subs.

It’s missing two main features, at the moment: Gabby’s ending content, and the addition of speaking portraits for all the characters. There’s like.. 60 of those for this update, because I just love costume changes too much for my own good. But, said portraits are all done (unless I’m forgetting some) and I’m going to take the time to set those before this weekend.

Now that the code for the chapter’s all updated, and the lion’s share of the main content is done, I can pivot back to the fun task of actually telling the story. I just need to finish up Gabby’s ending paths, and do her platonic friend path, and I’ll have a fully functional alpha build. The platonic path does use a lot of renders from the existing content I’ve made, so that’ll save me some time.

I didn’t put out a special build for those months (aside from the one everyone got in December) so there’s my mea culpa. I’m more apt to reply quickly on Discord, but you can also send me a PM here.
