Valbjorn : A New Saga : Nesting the Lair

Friends!!

I am writing this to you from the seat of my latest conquest; taking over the loft! (and basement, and garage! 😆)

You have no idea how excited I am to present to you the labors of the last month and a half. The move of my studio from a rented space to back home in an expansion of mental health, physical well being, and improved workspace(s)!

For the last 3 years my studio has been outside the home because of tight living quarters. Luckily, I've been able to find some great rental spaces to use for Valbjorn.

As of December of 2025 my partner and I moved into a bigger place and that changed the way I looked at my current rental studio space.

For clarity, below is a timeline of my different Lairs.

  1. 2019-2022 - Closet studio in house (Instagram sharing starts)

  2. 2023-2025 - Ragtime Tattoo studio (Valbjorn Patreon launched)

  3. 2025-2026 - Benton Park Building

  4. 2026 ~ Wolftime - New home studio

The Benton Park building studio was great, I loved that space. It was a big upgrade from my first studio behind Ragtime Tattoo , a space I also fell in love with, but seasons change and I needed to upgrade. Unfortunately those upgrades came with a number of minor complications that were outside my control. What it also lacked was the ability to do any kind of messy work like woodworking, ceramics, fabrication.

Flashback to my first studio at Ragtime which had a footprint of 9'x11'. While technically much smaller, I had access to a garage with all kinds of power tools and more importantly, a space to get messy to preserve the environment of my warhammer workbench.

The Benton Park building was missing this key function for my creativity.

Flashback to present and I am confronted with the decision to move out of my lovely studio at Benton park to back home.

The decision was not hard to make!

I decided to move the studio right before I traveled to Germany for my workshops and while I was there I had time to think and plan the logistics of the move.

It's been a massive amount of work to move everything and begin the nesting process, but I can safely say it's up and running!

Features of moving the lair back home include a cozy loft area for my clean work (Pictured above), a very large basement (and garage!) where I can work on ceramics, woodworking, terrain building, plinth building etc. Messy stuff. This is what I was missing. I'll share more pics of these expanded spaces when they are more set up. They are functional, but not in their final form yet.

I want to extend a massive heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in helping me make this possible.

To all of you who have been with me through these lovely endeavors.

Push your skills with me.

Your brother,

Valbjorn
