Valbjorn's Lair is moving!
After a lovely two and a half years in my current studio space, it's time to move on, it's time to grow!
I knew the day would come when my current studio space would either become unavailable or I would outgrow it. I've been renting this space from a friend who owns the building, and while it's worked out fantastically for me, he's ready to reclaim the space for his own projects. Over the last month, I've been on-the-HUNT searching for a comparable space. Something I could afford, but also something that I could grow into.
I've been waiting to announce this until I was certain I had a place to go, in the meantime working out of my house again. Earlier this week, I received news that the potential space I was scoping out will become a reality on June 1st. I'm moving!
Moving and upgrading are beyond exciting for me, but they also introduce new challenges and risks. While the new spot will be an upgrade in space, it will be more expensive. I am ready to face these challenges and take Valbjorn to another level.
My current studio is roughly 100 square feet. Just enough room for me to work and have a guest or two on the other side of the table. The new studio is 300 square feet, triple the size of what I'm used to. This will let me spread out, have some room to relax, and set up more guest spots for people wanting to visit and work, even host some private classes.
I can't wait to share the new space once I start to nest. Setting up a studio space is something I relish, and I want you guys to be a part of that.
I'll be documenting my journey here and sharing what I can when it comes to the move. Perhaps it could be useful to see how I approach packing up all my gear and transporting it.
Location-wise, it's relatively in the same neighborhood as my old place. My old studio is in Tower Grove South, and the new Spot will be near Tower Grove East for those of you familiar with Saint Louis, MO.
I hope through sharing this I can get you guys as excited as I am for this move. I see myself growing in this new space and that means more opportunities moving forward. I'm pumped!
I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this journey. I am proud to call you friends.
Love you guys,
-Val
