August '17 News #1 - Mysolia Project Preview
Happy August everyone! Today I'll be sharing a bit of what my goals are for Mysolia in it's completion.
Story
Mysolia is a dramatic story inspired by anime in a fantasy world that will primarily focus on my two main characters, Kitna and Adissa, as they attempt to restore peace among the three villages of their world.
The first part of the story will focus on the desperation of the destitute village of Tük'au, and their attempts to restore their village through piracy. This part will have about 4 episodes, each around 8-12 minutes long , and will be funded through this Patreon, as well as it's own Kickstarter campaign.
The second part of the story will be how the villages attempt to talk through their problems, deal with tragedy, and try to work with each other to mutually achieve their goals. The location will take place in Sylvalon, a village whose citizens all have small wings. Adissa's brother, Bremmen, will play a large role in this part. This section of the story will also have about 4 episodes with the same timeframe, and will be a direct continuation of the first part. Another Kickstarter will be to support me as I complete this part.
The third part will be the continuation of the second part, where one of the pirates from part one hosts vengeance in her heart and will take out those who wronged her. This part will take place in Dandnar, a mining village that recently became overwhelmed with monsters due to a mismanagement of resources. This part will also be another 4-episode Kickstarter campaign.
The fourth and fifth parts are still being written, but expect them to follow a similar format. The fourth part will actually begin after a 4-year time skip and focus on a brand new character and her friend who is part-monster. Depending on the reception of the series, I'll either continue past the fifth part or give it a proper send-off.
Characters
Mysolia will feature a host of colorful characters from each of the three villages: Tük'au (the northern village suffering from destitution whose inhabitants all have dark skin and light hair), Sylvalon (the forest village with winged inhabitants), and Dandnar (a mining village with access to special crystals).
Kitna is a girl who yearns for her life to return to the way it was before Tük'au lost everything due to an earthquake. She is a bit clingy and wants to prove her worth. She joins the pirate crew and eventually becomes close friends with Adissa.
Adissa is a girl from Sylvalon who joins her father as he shows her how to work the trade caravan between Sylvalon and Dandnar. She has bright, blonde hair and blue & green wings. She's highly optimistic and also trained to use a bow with special crystal arrows.
Jzahken is the pirate captain responsible for initiating the pillage of the trade caravans. She was once filled with faith before the earthquake in Tük'au, but decided to go out and try to restore her village on her own terms.
Kaye is another pirate from Jzahken's crew. Because of the earthquake, she loses someone very dear to her and now blames the other villages for not reestablishing trade with Tük'au. While she wants to see Tük'au flourish again, her true motivations are much more selfish and sinister.
More characters in the second part include Bremmen, Ritan, and Patajo.
Weapons and Magic
In this fantasy world, I have a system of magic using crystals like batteries. These crystals are mined in Dandnar and traded to the other villages through trade caravans each month. These crystals are small enough to hold in one hand, and are placed into weapons and tools to charge them with heat energy. The magic system is limited to only heat energy in order to maintain order and realism through the rest of the show.
Weapons charged with crystals provide extra damage through heated metals, as well as extra speed from thermal exhaust. Crystals can run out of charge, so using too much energy for a single attack can burn through the remaining juice a crystal has very quickly. The crystals release energy through pulses (either through blood by gripping the crystals directly, or through water undulations). This allows some tools to be used without operators present, like timed irrigation.
Each character is skilled with a different weapon, which makes fights more interesting between new characters. I hope you look forward to all the action!
