★New Patreon Fees....?
So....it looks like everyone will be getting an email tomorrow from Patreon outlining some new fees.....
For full disclosure, I am posting the email that Creators received.
I am actually quite disappointed with how this was handled, as I believed it was only fair for the Creator to handle the fees, but....well...........

This will officially make a $10 pledge closer to a $15 dollar pledge than 10 for me. I'd already have to pay $10 + 25% VAT + 5% fee. I assume the fee will be applied after VAT so that will turn a $10 pledge into a $13,125 pledge. I'm afraid to say I will probably have to drop a few pledges because of this, so the end result is less support to creators from me. Sad times. EDIT: Seems I misunderstood the fee. I guess it's 2.9% plus a flat fee? Ehh... Still not too keen on it.
/frowns and then shrugs. I've made my decision. Imma support my darling ones. They wanna charge a little more? Fine. I'd prefer that the money goes directly into your pocket, but if it means you all get the support you deserve, then I'm okay with it. For the record though... I get why some might not like it. This feels like a cash grab on Patreon's part.
So if i understand correctly, that mean once 18 dec, I'll be paying creator pledge + my 20% vat invoice + that new patreon fees ? Or the fees includes the usual vat already ? :/
That's actually what we're trying to figure out now at the Patreon community forums. A LOT of Creators are very unhappy with this sudden change, as we know a lot of Patrons STILL want to support us even with a VAT fee (which is already amazing), but to charge them extra seems unnecessary and cruel. I do not have an answer for you yet, but hopefully the Patron email will make that more clear once it goes through tomorrow :\
at first i though this sounded nice, i mean you get 95% now... then i realized what it means for us patrons, I am sure quite a few of us out there have budgets for spending and we arent here to pay patreon we are here to give money to the creators.
While I thank you for your kind thought, I and many other Creators have told Patreon that we would rather stay in the current business plan where we pay the fees instead of our patrons, as it's only fair that, if you want to pledge $1 to someone, you should ONLY be charged $1, not a bunch of fine print that says "......and an additional fee." :( Hopefully they will reconsider this change...
