Volleyball Mod Update 0.2 - DOWNLOAD

Update Changelog:
● Volleyball Mod 0.2.4:

• Improves the stability of the new four-Sim Volleyball system.

• Fixes an issue where all four Sims could move into position but then remain standing without starting the match.

• Adds a new synchronization check for four-Sim matches. If one participant takes too long to join, the match will now cancel for everyone instead of continuing without that Sim.

• Fixes the UtopyaLog.txt script error that some players were receiving.

• Removes the previous pack dependencies. The Volleyball Mod should now only require the Base Game.

• Includes additional adjustments and fixes based on player testing of the new 2v2 system.

Known Issue:

• Avoid starting Volleyball matches during Dates or Hangouts, as these events can currently interfere with the four-Sim system.

The new Volleyball Mod expansion is now available! This update brings full four-Sim Volleyball matches to the mod, with two Sims playing against two Sims using the new Volleyball Net.

If you haven't already, I recommend reading the main update post for the full breakdown of everything added, the new animations, interactions, romantic gameplay, and how the system works.

If you just want to download and play, this post is the more compact version with everything you need to know to get started. Please make sure you still read the Important Note near the bottom, especially before reporting any issues with four-Sim matches.

◆ What's Included

This update adds three new four-Sim interactions:

• Play Team Volleyball

• Play Couple Volleyball Against Team

• Play Couple Volleyball Against Couple

All three are 2v2 matches, meaning four Sims are participating and synchronized throughout the game.

The update also includes the new Volleyball Net and a New Volleyball Court

◆ How to Play

You can find the new Volleyball Net in Build/Buy by searching for “Volleyball Net.”

Place the Net somewhere with enough open space around it. The object itself doesn't take up much room, but the actual Volleyball animations use a much larger area around the Net. Sims will run, jump, fall, reposition, and move around throughout the match, so avoid placing it too close to walls, furniture, or other objects.

There is also an optional Volleyball Court Mat that you can place underneath the Net. The Mat isn't required for the mod to work, but it gives you a better idea of approximately how much space the matches need.

All three group interactions are four-Sim matches, with two Sims playing against two Sims.

◆ Scoring & Fitness

A team needs to score 4 points to win.

Matches last around 50 in-game minutes. If neither team reaches four points before the time runs out, the team with the higher score wins.

Matches played on the Volleyball Net can also use your Sims' Fitness Skill when determining who is more likely to score. Higher Fitness gives a Sim a better chance of winning, but it doesn't guarantee it. There is still randomness involved.

Play Competitively is enabled by default. If you prefer completely random results, enable testingcheats true, then Shift + Click the Volleyball Net and disable Play Competitively.

The setting is checked from the active Sim who starts the match, so make sure you change it using the Sim you plan to initiate the game with.

◆ Romantic Matches

Play Couple Volleyball Against Team and Play Couple Volleyball Against Couple include additional romantic gameplay.

Romantic moodlets require at least 30 Romance, with stronger variations becoming available as the relationship increases.

Some of the animations can also change depending on the couple's relationship, so couples with a stronger romantic relationship can have more affectionate moments during their matches.

◆ Volleyball Rules

The matches are loosely based on beach volleyball, but the mod doesn't follow every official Volleyball rule.

Some rules have been changed or simplified to fit how the interaction and animations work, including things like which team starts after a point is scored. This is intentional and gives me more freedom to create different plays and animations without having to structure the entire system around real-world Volleyball rules.

◆ Uneven Terrain

The Volleyball animations work best on flat terrain.

On uneven areas, especially places like the beaches in Sulani, you may occasionally notice the ball floating slightly above or below a Sim's hand. This becomes more noticeable on steeper terrain because the animations were created for a flat surface.

This is mainly a visual issue and shouldn't affect the actual gameplay.

◆ Requirements & Installation

This is a script mod.

Make sure both Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed are enabled in your game settings.

After downloading, extract the files and place them in your Mods folder. Script files should not be placed more than one folder deep.

The mod does not require XML Injector or Lot 51 Core Library.

After a game update, remember that The Sims 4 may automatically disable mods and script mods, so check your settings before reporting that the interactions are missing.

◆ Before Reporting an Issue

If you experience a problem with a four-Sim match, first try Reset Volleyball Participants on all four Sims and start the match again.

If the problem continues after a reset, then please report it and let me know which Volleyball interaction you were using and what the Sims were doing when the problem happened. That will make it much easier for me to figure out what went wrong.

⚠️ Important: Known Issues

Four-Sim matches have a lot happening between all four Sims at once, so while the system should run smoothly most of the time, occasional bugs can still happen. A Sim may take too long to start, stop while the others continue, or have an old Volleyball interaction stuck in their queue.

To make these situations easier to fix, I've created a special debug interaction called Reset Volleyball Participants, which is available directly on the Volleyball Net. Enable testingcheats true, Shift + Click the Volleyball Net, select Reset Volleyball Participants, and choose all four Sims. This will reset them and clear any leftover Volleyball interactions so you can start the match again fresh.

A few important things to keep in mind:

• Avoid cancelling while choosing the four participants. If you cancel during the Sim selection, use the reset interaction before starting another match.

• Avoid quitting the game during an active match. If you do, use the reset interaction after loading back in before playing again.

• I've noticed that matches may not start during Hangouts or Dates events. I'm still looking into this, so for now, try starting the match outside of these events.

The mod also currently requires Get Together. If you don't have the pack, don't worry; I'm already working on an update to remove this requirement and will release it soon.
